14yo beginner trying to take basketball seriously — need advice on training, position and gear

Hey everyone,

I’m 14 years old, around 1.64–1.67m (5'5"–5'6"), and I’m basically a complete beginner at basketball. I know the basics, but I want to start taking it seriously and actually improve.

I can do a crossover, but I’m still struggling to get the ball through my legs consistently lol.

I’m thinking about eventually playing as a shooting guard or another guard position. I’m not tall, but I’m fast and have good jumping ability. I also really like shooting threes, probably more than I should.

I want advice on basically everything I should focus on:

Dribbling drills

Shooting drills

Footwork

Finishing

Conditioning

Which fundamentals matter most

How often I should train

Common mistakes beginners make

Good YouTube channels or other resources

I’m also trying to figure out what other gear is actually worth buying.

I only have around R$50 (~US$10) to spend. I was thinking about buying a cheap basketball and a compression sleeve because I like the look, but maybe there’s a better way to use that money.

For shoes, I already have Jordan Luka 77s, so I think I’m good in that part.

I’m not expecting to become good overnight. I just want to build the right fundamentals from the beginning and improve as much as possible.

Any advice is appreciated.

Why is most of the community negative about vibecoding?

I'm starting to learn Python because I want to become a programmer in the future. Since then, I've been consuming a lot of programming-related content, and I've noticed that many people seem extremely negative toward those who use AI as a programming tool. (If I understand correctly, that's what's usually called a "vibecoder.")

Why is that?

AI has been helping me a lot while learning the basics. I mostly use it to ask for hints, explanations, or tips when I'm stuck. I don't copy and paste code into my projects—I try to understand what it's doing first and write it myself.

Is the negativity aimed at people who blindly copy AI-generated code without understanding it, or is it directed at anyone who uses AI at all? I'm genuinely curious because, from my perspective as a beginner, it feels like a really useful learning tool.

M15 looking for new online friends

Hey! Im Luigi i am M15 and I'm pretty much open to being friends with anyone who shares some similar interests.

I can be a bit awkward at first, but once I get comfortable I enjoy talking about pretty much anything. I always try to listen and help people when they need it, although I sometimes wish I had someone to vent to as well.

I love sports in general, and I currently practice boxing and go to the gym. Music is a huge part of my life too. My taste is all over the place, from old school rap to rock and indie stuff, so I'm always looking for new songs to add to my playlists.

One of my favorite hobbies is design. I enjoy making posters and experimenting with different styles, even if I'm still learning. I also play pretty much every type of game. I mostly play on PS5 and PC, and I'm usually willing to try new games with people.

I also enjoy random conversations, history, and learning new things from others.

hmu if you'd like to be friends :)
