what do sickness investigations look like at stage 2 and am i entitled to ssp?

hi, i’ll try and keep this as concise as possible, however i am sick and have a tendency to ramble anyway

i have been with my employer for 8 months now. i have passed probation back in april, and i am contracted 22.5 hours a week at minimum wage. i have had 43.75 hours off sick since january. not great i know. i started working in a nursery, which is exposure to a range of bugs which was my first bout, and then i had a mental health relapse which led to the majority of the rest. i am now medicated, and on the list for therapy, and have been open with my employer about that. the last time was due to a workplace injury.

i have been invited to a stage 1 informal meeting of sickness investigation. that’s fine, i know i was sick, and i will explain it. w/e

however, friday evening through to this weekend i have been hit with a nasty cold. i can’t even make a cup of tea without a couching fit. i’ve been yamming medication, ginger, garlic, honey and it’s not taking the edge off.

so here is my dilemma. if i call in sick, that immediately goes to stage 2, which i don’t know what that entails. i can’t afford to lose this job, given the state of the job market. on the other hand, i work in the kitchen. in this heat, it’s reaching 30 degrees as a minimum. also, im on my own all day, as the other chef is on holiday, and i get no help. im doing 2, 2 course meals, a snack for ages 4 and under, and washing dishes and deep cleaning whilst taking into consideration allergens. it’s a lot, even in full health.

my second dilemma, i get no ssp. all of my sick days are unpaid and deducted from my paycheque. so in my head , can’t they see that i don’t want to take time off work? i get just over £1k on a full working month. it’s not like i have a safety net. however, reading my contract, and per company policy, it says employees receive sick pay from day 1. i had a little google, it looks like i should be receiving ssp?

i’m very confused, and i have no idea what to do, so any advice would be helpful. thank you :)

Is there anyone in the UK who does chainmaille classes?

Hi!

I’m quite new to the art and think I would benefit from in person lessons. I was wondering if there’s anyone based in or around the home counties who teach it?

Thank you in advance!

prayers as offerings

hi

i was hoping for some inspiration for saying prayer as offerings? i don’t have anyone specific i want to pray to, just ancestors, deities who may be inclined to accept, spirit. i’m having trouble with wording it and what to say as a daily prayer.

thanks in advance!

does anyone know if the brand “seriously good” have changed their dry food recipe?

Hi

My cats have eaten the brand seriously good both their wet food and their dry food. we switched to scrumbles for a bit as it was the only one available in the store we visited, and then went back to seriously good when doing a monthly bulk food run.

we got the duck one originally to change things up a bit, and since then getting one of my boys has been sick and had diarrhoea. the other has been picking at his food, and there have been a lot of leftovers. i took my poorly boy to the vets today to get him checked out and they’re not worried. we decided to go pick up the salmon flavour that they’ve had before, and now they’re both refusing to eat it.🤦‍♀️

i know cats can be fussy about food but mine have never been particularly fussy about branding, they just don’t particularly enjoy wet fish food. have i just accidentally made them a wee bit snobby (it will nearly be double the cost!!) or have the ingredients changed?

does anyone have any experiences or know of anyone’s who has written about practising the craft after substance abuse (tw)

Hi

So i abused a narcotic for around 6 years on the daily and i feel like ive permanently done something to my brain to the point where i dont feel like i can connect with myself (im not sure how to word it) anymore.

i can’t recall things as easily such as dreams or day to day life, and i feel like there’s always something dividing me when i try to raise energy or tune in.

I was just hoping for some experiences or some advice so i don’t feel so alone, as it’s been really getting me down since i’ve started taking my practise more seriously.

thanks in advance :)

Hi

I’m 25 and i’m looking for apprenticeships, yet i keep getting to interview stages and loosing out. I understand they’re very competitive, however I’m not sure where I’m going wrong.

I’ve been working since i was 17 and progressed in my first role to a management role. I left that after 6 years because I didn’t enjoy the constant unsociable hours, and since then i’ve done sales, and now i’m in a part time catering job. In total i’ve had 4 jobs including my current job in the last 8 years, so I don’t think it’s job hopping that’s off putting.

I got good GCSEs before i left school, I’ve done courses in my own time to upskill (i’ve got a level 2 digital marketing certificate and i’m currently doing a cpd verified online business management course). i’m also learning spanish in my spare time, all of these which show initiative.

I’ve spoken to a career coach and we polished my CV up so I know that’s not the issue and is probably why I’m getting through to the interviews.

I do get quite anxious however I’ve done a lot of interview practise. I’ve gone in prepared with generic question answers (why do you want this job etc) and examples of when I have achieved certain things in my last job. I’ve also practised not saying fillers such as repeating the questions or going “ermmmmm.” I know i present well in how I dress as well, so i’m not worried about that.

I’m learning how to drive but I don’t apply for jobs that specify driving licences and a lot of the time I don’t get asked if I can so I don’t think that is a problem. I also live in a good area for public transport.

I’m genuinely at a loss at how to make myself more employable. I’m starting to feel like it’s my age, as all these apprenticeships stretch over a year and at the year mark they have to start paying minimum wage. This is the only way I can get a level 3 qualification currently as paying to do a-levels is not very cheap.

Any advice is welcome, thank you

Hi!

I brought this christmas tree from tescos in december and i’ve recently noticed this plant sprouting from it. it hasn’t been outside or near any other plants since i’ve brought it, and i was curious to what it is.

also, if there is any chance i could revive my christmas tree, any suggestions would be welcome!

thanks in advance

Hi!

So i got a little bit tipsy over the weekend and in my inebriated state all I could think was “i need to buy agrimony.”

I was fortunate enough to be close to a metaphysical store so I did go and purchase some agrimony.

I know it can be used in protection and to aid sleep, i’ve seen a lot about putting it in little sachets, but I was just interested in anyone’s uses for it, as i don’t have a specific idea of how to use this lovely herb.

side note: i also brought a poisonous herb grow kit but i have two lovely cats so if anyone has any suggestions for indoor planters or set ups that will be pet proof that would also be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance!
