Roselily Samantha, I am obsessed!

This was my first year growing the Roselily Samantha and she is absolutely gorgeous 😍🌷 They are very fragrant too, my entire house smells amazing! Here are a few shots of the bouquets I made 💐 some of the bouquets include dahlias that I also grow. I planted some Stargazers that didn't make it unfortunately, but I am thrilled these bloomed!

First Bloom 🏵🍃

This gardening season has been off to a rough start in Colorado. We are in an extreme drought and it has been extremely hot here (abnormally hot for us). Not only has the weather been horrible, I have had one heck of a battle against thrips for the first time ever, along with the usual enemies the earwigs and crickets. Also killed two Japanese beetles yesterday 😵‍💫

My first bloom of the season is finally here, and it makes all the hard work worth it. She is a beauty 🏵🍃😍 This is a new variety I planted this year, Ball Maarn. Cannot wait for the rest to bloom. Hope I can keep fighting the bugs off and that I can keep my Dahlias alive. They are looking rough this year 🙏

Thrips! Help!

Hi there fellow rose lovers! I am new to growing roses. I purchased my first rose plant, a Marc Chagall, a few weeks ago. I just made my first mini boquet, isn't she a beauty? 😍🌹 Anyway, I noticed that the buds on the roses are a little brown (before blooming), and then discovered what I think are thrips 😩 these tiny little long bugs. I included a pic, but they are so tiny you can barely see it.

I read online you could use Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew. Have you guys who have had this issue used that before? Is it ok to spray on roses that already bloomed (like the ones I cut for my vase)? I see some thrips inside these ones too. Ugh! I am so afraid to spray anything on my roses after harming it with this diluted peppermint spray I used to deter the dang squirrels that ate my first batch of blooms. It like burned the leaves and made them brown. So not only am I battling thrips, I also hurt it with the peppermint spray (Mighty Mint Peppermint Oil) 🫠🫠 I included some photos of the damage 💔

Any feedback you all have on the thrips battle will be so appreciated 🙏

P.S. this group has created a new addiction for me and I am about to go crazy buying more varieties of roses 😂 I grow lots of Dahlias, Lillies, Peony, etc., but for some reason never dove into roses. Excited to start gardening more roses! 😁

What Color Are My Eyes?

Hi everyone! My whole life I haven't been able to really figure out if my eyes are blue or green. Mine have both blue, green, and some amber coloring to them. I researched eye colors and I think I may have central heterochromia as well. My eyes sometimes look blue and sometimes they look more green depending on lighting and what I am wearing. I also have that darker ring around the outside and it almost has a dark blue gray color to it. What do you guys think?
