More of "Cars running red lights is the rule"

The light turns red and the car drives right through it. I wish this was rare, but it is not.

Today, I also a car not only not slow down for somebody in a crosswalk but sped up and then screech to a halt inches from the guy's legs

Three cars running the same red light. Drivers need to be more responsible. You're operating heavy machinery that can hurt and kill people. This makes an excellent case for traffic cams.

Nolan's spin replaces facts on Garden St.

Councilor Patty Nolan is now trying to spin the April Garden Street vote in her favor with a follow-up email, but her account conflicts with the public record.

She claims that that city staff “preferred keeping the one way, but not because of safety concerns.”

In fact, the Traffic, Parking, and Transportation Department explicitly stated that keeping Garden Street one‑way was the **safest of the four options they evaluated**.

Nolan’s email calls for respectful dialogue. I agree. But genuine respect requires telling the truth, not offering self‑serving distortions of what staff actually said.

This Parking Spot Is Free. Should It Be?

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2026/06/09/nyregion/nyc-street-parking.html

The answer is no. Higher parking costs reduce marginal convenience driving, lowering vehicle miles traveled, congestion, and local emissions, and freeing road and curb space for people in genuine need. And higher parking costs would raise $$ for the city.

SF implemented incresaes dynamic parking costs and local businesses benefitted. Once parking became easier, sales revenue increased for nearby businesses.
