I wanted to share a deeper part of the world without repeating my last post.
At the center of everything in Marlene is one entity:
Ikket.
Ikket isn’t just a villain or a god.
It’s a force that feeds on emptiness not fear, not anger, but the space left behind when something is missing.
Loneliness.
Grief.
Guilt.
That feeling of being disconnected.
Everyone has a small part of that in them.
Ikket looks for the ones where it’s deeper.
Voidborn (how people become “monsters”)
Ikket doesn’t create most of his army.
He turns people.
It starts slowly:
your thoughts shift
your emotions get heavier
you feel less like yourself
Over time, you lose parts of who you are and become a Voidborn.
The key part:
they still reflect who they used to be.
So every Voidborn is basically a distorted version of a real person.
Some are weak.
Some evolve into stronger forms depending on how deep their emptiness was.
Anomalies (what Marlene is)
Voidborn are easy.
Anomalies are rare.
They’re created when Ikket splits a piece of himself and forces it into a human vessel.
That’s why they’re different:
they’re unstable
they can affect reality
and they’re extremely dangerous
Marlene is one of them.
She’s not just part of the world.
She’s something that could end it.
The core idea
This world isn’t about good vs evil.
It’s about what people do with what they feel.
Ikket doesn’t create darkness.
It feeds on the darkness already inside people.
And Marlene is stuck in the middle of that.

Hey everyone ,
I am rezzy , a 2d animator and for the past 2 and half years, I’ve been quietly building an indie animated series called “MARLENE”
Before anything else , I want to stay this clearly
Everything in this project the story, animation, worldbuilding, characters is 100% created by me.
I previously used AI only to organize my notes, and I understand why that came off wrong. That’s on me.
From here on, I’ll be sharing my full process openly.
Marlene is a 2D dark fantasy psychological series about a mysterious girl raised in a quiet church who discovers she isn’t human, but a cosmic anomaly created by an ancient force that wants to erase existence. When a corrupted Guardian kills the priest who raised her, Marlene’s suppressed power erupts, fracturing reality and dragging her into a war between chaos and balance. Now hunted by voidborn beings and forced into a destiny she never asked for, she has one choice: fight her nature or become the destroyer she was created to be.
I had started creating and writing the story and building the world since 2023 (basically just taking my time with it ) but last year something happened , I lost my dad ,it was a very dark time for me , I didn’t know how to process that loss, so at a point it clicked , I put it all into “Marlene “
The world is built on that feeling of grief , what it’s like when you lose the person you love most in the world , you know .
So the world of Marlene ,Before the world, before balance, there was a being known as IKKET once a divine messenger meant to guide creation. But Ikket desired something beyond order. He did not want to rule, deceive, or control.
He wanted to erase everything.
For that, he was punished ,not with death, but with something worse:
He was turned into nothingness itself, cast outside existence, unable to touch the world he hated.
But even as nothing… he still had will.
Over unimaginable time, Ikket discovered a way to influence reality by creating anomalies, beings born from his essence.
Ikket doesn’t just create monsters
Every person carries a from of emptiness inside them.
Not evil.
Just absence.
Loneliness.
Grief.
Shame.
Emptiness.
The feeling of being unseen.
This is where Ikket feeds.
He cannot corrupt everyone equally.
He is drawn to emotions that create internal voids.
People who feel abandoned, broken, isolated, forgotten.
Those are the easiest doors.
WHAT IKKET ACTUALLY FEEDS ON
Not fear alone.
Emotional vacancy.
The space left behind by loss.
That emptiness becomes a seed of void
And Ikket waters it.
Because the truth is…
almost everyone has felt that emptiness before.
That quiet feeling that something is missing.
And Ikket feeds on that.
It corrupts that feeling and turns them into:
Voidborn – distorted versions of themselves
And creates rare beings called:
Anomalies – like Marlene… tied to existence itself

Not just emotionally
reality itself starts fracturing.

This isn’t a “power fantasy.”
It’s about:

and what happens when you lose the only thing keeping you human
Marlene doesn’t suddenly become skilled or in control.
She becomes angry, unstable, and overwhelmed.m
Her power isn’t control.
It’s collapse.

There’s an ancient force called Ikket
a being that feeds on emptiness, loneliness, and grief.
It creates:
Anomalies (like Marlene) → beings tied to existence itself
Voidborn → corrupted humans used as extensions of its will
Marlene isn’t just part of this world.
She’s the key to ending it.

One thing I wanted to explore deeply is this:
Ikket doesn’t just create monsters.

In this world, those feelings can be corrupted.
People don’t just become creatures—
they become distorted versions of themselves.
Some are weak.
Some are unstable.
Some become something far worse.
But they all share one thing:
they were human first.

I feel like everyone has, at some point:
imagined a version of themselves
created characters in their head
or thought “what would I be in another world?”
Marlene is built on that idea.
