Any good German shoegaze / alternative bands?

Just looking around the subs of my favorite genres for some good German band recommendations for my upcoming trip to Germany next month.

Thanks again! Cheers.

Any good/underrated German MDM bands to get into (?)

I’m going to Germany at the beginning of next month and I wanted to know if there were any good or underrated German MDM bands I should listen to while there!

I am aware of Heaven Shall Burn and so far I’m loving them, but I’m not really familiar with any other major (or really any in general) German MDM band and I’m pretty much looking for recs from any MDM style; (thrash, traditional, metalcore-y, progressive, etc.) I can’t wait to listen to more of their stuff when I’m there!

Here’s a list of my favorite MDM bands and what I primarily usually like (in order):

  1. In Flames (1994-2002 / 2006-2010)
  2. Arch Enemy
  3. UNDEAD CORPORATION DOUJIN WORKS
  4. Children of Bodom
  5. Edge of Sanity
  6. Carcass
  7. Imperial Circus Dead Decadence
  8. At The Gates / Dark Tranquility (tied for me)

Anything is greatly appreciated! Thanks again!

Which band do you think has fallen off the most since their prime and which one do you think can (or is already) pulling themselves back around?

I think In Flames is the unfortunate most obvious pick. Listen I get it, they’re artists and they wanna “evolve” their style into however it fits them creatively and I support them as musicians on that basis. However, it’s hard to look past the contrast of how comically average their new music is compared to the god-like heights of their 90’s era.

Over the past few months I’ve started to come a lot more favorable to Dark Tranquillity, and their past 2 albums are surprisingly solid! Glad to see them still going strong and I hope for the best in the future

Good places to hangout that stay open late?

Aside from bars ofc, are there any places that stay open late that are good to go to when staying up on days off?

Preferably looking for places to do some of my paperwork and language textbooks in. While of course I can always stay at home and do them, it feels more necessary to be going out of the house as much as possible compared to being on days lol. I was a big library nut before starting my night shift job.

I know this question thread is a bit of a reach and a “no duh go to a bar” or “stay at home” kinda deal but I’m knawing to get out of the house on these days off and would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks again!
