Anyone know what section 8 or DV aid is available in the area? Advice welcome

hey all idk if this will fair well with the local community, but I’m desperate so here it goesssss:

I lived in tacoma for a few years 2015-2019, they were some of the greatest years of my life and I was very happy there, however I had to go back to my hometown in California due to an emergency. I ended up in a domestically violent relationship and I am looking to flee. I’ve tried to flee three times already this year and every DV shelter in my entire county has been at capacity every time I’ve tried. they don’t have waitlists, they are all first come first serve. I do have very young children so I am looking for dv shelters, not homeless shelters or places where my children will be unsafe.

it’s not looking like I have any options and the county I reside in has actually ended their entire section 8 program, the 211 representative said they aren’t even accepting waitlist applications and the program was thoroughly ended. my neighboring counties are just as full (and less safe).

i’ve started to wonder if I would be able to find resources/help back in tacoma. my situation is physically violent and getting worse, so I am starting to get desperate, but don’t want to put my kids in an unsafe situation. I know states don’t want other states homeless people, but I’m really hoping & wondering if tacoma could give me a safe landing space and an opportunity to start a safe life with my kids?

anyone happen to have any advice for someone in this situation? I no longer have no friends or family where I reside, but I do have a few friends in tacoma with kids who would be able to help me with my kids a little so I can work, but I don’t think they can take me and the kids in so that is it’s own issue.

eta: does anyone have any resources for any reputable DV shelters in tacoma? I’m anxious to go to just any one bc I have young kids and people take advantage of others in vulnerable situations, but does anyone know one that is known to be safe?

How to decide if your toddler should go in mommy & me swim, or teacher instructed with a small group???

Hey y’all, my oldest will be 3 end of July.

The summer BEFORE last year, I did mommy and me swim with her and she did great. the babies in that group were much smaller than her and I remember thinking she could do the next level class the following year. I fell pregnant so the next year (last year) we skipped swimming over the summer bc I had just given birth.

i’m signing up the two kids for a summer swim class and I will do mommy & me with my now 1 year old, and I want to put my almost 3 yo in the next level up class, which is 1 teacher to 4 kids. Only thing is my 3yo has never been instructed by anyone but me or her dad to do things, she’s never been in a class or day care or even with a babysitter or family member so I’m hesitant to have her first time listening to another adult be in a safety situation such as a pool, although I also think it might be really great for her development & Independence?

swim lessons are every day for 2 weeks so I believe me and dad are going to be present so we can switch off who swims, so my almost 3yo will have a parent in the water and on the ground watching if needed, I’m just nervous about making her first instructional period away from parent also in the water with a teacher who has to teach 3 other kids?

we dont have regular access to a pool so she isn’t in one all the time, but we do frequent the beach and we take the toddler far out enough for her to floay around & “swim” a little so she is familiar with & loves water

the classes also take place all at the same time so different parts of the pool are all filled w different aged kids doing different things. what are your thoughts?
