Caregiver/POA and reimbursement?

We are helping care for grandma and are POA. I have a question about reimbursement. we have spent several thousand out of our pockets paying on her bills, care etc. while we get added to her accounts to pay it on her behalf. IE: paying her mortgage and electric bills so she does not lose her home. Is there a correct way to be reimbursed for her expenses without causing any legal issues? Our next step is to sell home and get her on Medicaid and do not want to mess that up, but we also don’t have money to keep paying out of pocket.

If this is the wrong sub to ask, please point me in the right direction. Thank you.

Small space and kids, getting ready for grandma with dementia- advice please

Edit: Thank you so much. we have folks telling us “you can do this!” and opinionated family members who won’t help, on all sides. I feel like it’s selfish and a cop out, not to attempt to take care of her. We love her. But I also don’t believe we can do this. I’ll start working to get Medicaid figured out if we can.

Title says it all, we will be the carers for grandmother with confirmed dementia soon. There are four of us in a one bedroom, ~700 sq ft space. She will make five. We are trying to move if we can afford it and can get out of our lease. If not, we’re going to give her the bedroom. cost of living in our home town is very high and assisted living is not an option due to cost.

Spouse and I work full time opposite schedules, we have two little kids. She knows us and loves to see us although is confused most of the time, but is not very mobile and has health conditions on top of her dementia.

We are in touch with insurance who will help depending on what her doctor orders. currently she does not qualify for Medicaid.

I really need advice from those who live in small spaces or have kids, and care for their loved ones with dementia. any advice you can offer so we can be as prepared as possible? please be kind, I’m overwhelmed. thank you.
