Do Americans actually oppose public surveillance cameras and stricter civic laws, or is that just a loud minority?

Watching videos about daily life in Japan, Singapore, and China made me curious. Those places have public cameras, strict littering fines, and tough drug laws, and the streets are clean, safe, and orderly.
I get the civil liberties concerns. But does opposition to these things represent most Americans, or a vocal minority?
For those who visited these countries, did your view change? Where do you draw the line between personal freedom and civic order?

Has anyone lived at Central Place Apartments (10 Florence St) in Malden?

Hey r/bostonhousing! I'm seriously considering Central Place Apartments at 10 Florence St in Malden and would love to hear from anyone who has lived there or currently lives there.

Specifically I'm wondering:

  1. How are the units? Are they well maintained and modern?

  2. How is the management? I've read they are responsive but wanted to confirm.

  3. How is the noise level given it's literally steps from the Orange Line?

  4. What do you actually pay for utilities each month?

  5. Is it pet friendly in practice? We have a cat with an ESA letter.

  6. Any issues with the building like bugs, maintenance delays, or safety concerns?

I work near Prudential Center and my roommate works in Malden so the location seems perfect for both of us. Just want to make sure it lives up to the reviews before committing!

Thanks so much in advance!

Looking for a 2BR near the Orange Line, any tips or experiences?

Hey everyone! I’m moving to the Boston area on June 1st and I’ve been apartment hunting like crazy. My roommate and I have different commutes, I work near Prudential Center and my roommate works in Malden, so we need somewhere that works for both of us on the Orange Line.
We are looking for a 2BR, budget around $2,800 to $3,400/mo total. We have a cat (ESA) so pet friendly is a must.
So far we’ve been looking at:
• 10 Florence St, Malden (Central Place): 40 steps to Orange Line, seems great but no availability listed
• Arrive Malden: love the amenities but utilities seem high based on posts here
• Somerville listings around $2,800 to $3,000
A few questions:
1. Has anyone lived at Central Place / 10 Florence St in Malden? How are the units and management?
2. Anyone have experience with Arrive Malden utilities? I’ve seen posts about commercial water rates being $80 to $150/mo. Is that still the case?
3. Any other 2BR recommendations near the Orange Line that gives reasonable commutes to both Prudential Center and Malden?
Thanks in advance, this city’s rental market is no joke 😅

Experience with Micozzi Management or 625 McGrath Highway Somerville?

Has anyone rented through Micozzi Management in Somerville or had experience with 625 McGrath Highway apartments? I am considering applying for a 2 bed 2 bath unit there and it looks great on paper but the unit has been available since March which has me a little nervous. Would love to hear from anyone who has lived there or dealt with this management company. How is maintenance, communication, and overall experience? Also for those who have lived there what did utilities typically run per month since tenants cover everything? Any honest feedback is really appreciated!

Moving to Boston in June for my first job. No idea where to start. Help?

Hey r/bostonhousing! Moving to Boston in June for my first job and would love some honest advice from people who actually live here.

I'm a young professional with a comfortable salary relocating for a new position. This is my first job out of grad school so I'm figuring everything out at once! Coming from out of state so I have no idea what a realistic budget looks like or which neighborhoods are actually worth it for someone who works full time and just wants a peaceful, nice place to come home to.

Looking for either a studio/1bed or a room with a female roommate. I'm quiet, clean, don't smoke, and I love history, so I already know Boston is going to be my kind of city.

Move in: June 1, 2026 | 12-month lease

What would YOU do in my position? Any leads, budget advice, or neighborhood recommendations welcome. DMs open!

▲ 5 r/braces

My jaw shifts every time I open my mouth — is this normal with braces?

Has anyone else noticed their jaw shifts to one side when they open their mouth? Mine shifts left or right and no matter how hard I try to keep it straight it just keeps going that way on its own. Not sure if it's related to my braces or something else. Anyone dealt with this?

From my observations, this subreddit appears highly censored and biased. There's a clear difference between criticizing an artist and attacking their fandom, yet posts that contain no hate, only complaints, and highlighting hypocrisy are being removed. So, is this subreddit truly uncensored?

I think the name should be reconsidered. No matter how much I debate with fans, I would never disrespect any artist, even if I'm not a fan myself. I notice posts with disrespectful content being allowed, while posts calling out a fandom or groups of people are being taken down.

TXT will always be one of my favorite groups, and MOAs used to be a fandom I was proud to be part of. I knew things were going downhill during the freefall era, but now it’s so much worse.

The victim blaming, doom posting, and dragging BTS for not tweeting about TXT’s new song is embarrassing. I was on X before 2019. I remember when TXT debuted and some ARMYs called them leeches and it was hell. I predicted the cycle would repeat, and here we are. Even before CORTS debuted, the shady subtweets and doomposting had already started.

What frustrates me most is that MOAs complain about BigHit’s promotion, and I understand, but this comeback’s promotion has genuinely been strong. TXT just came off a world tour that drew 564,000 people across 29 shows. They achieved their first Grand Slam on Korean music shows during 7th Year promotions. All five members renewed their contracts. And BigHit gave them a full showcase, a fan concert, and a comeback right after BTS. That’s not a label neglecting their artists.

The real issue is that MOAs aren’t doing their part. TO-DO and variety content get ignored. Instead of streaming, people are dissecting song credits to decide which members are being mistreated. I’ve seen more tweets about the members’ sexuality than about voting or streaming. It’s constant.

TXT are doing well and they deserve better from this fandom. And the BTS thing? TXT have talked about having dinner with BTS, visiting each other’s homes, building a real friendship. That’s closeness. A tweet during a comeback doesn’t define a relationship, and MOAs weaponizing it to manufacture drama is embarrassing to watch.
