Since they altered Guest 1337's lore to die, it could be that the war was lost, and what if that changed Jez. The Spectre could've offered them another chance to change things how they were.

People are hating on You and I V2 For The Completely Wrong Reason
Most of the people that hate on it just say it's "ass", But I feel like the real reason is because it loses the intensity.
The characters are just singing, it doesn't match with the intensity of the situation because you're getting chased and you're going to die. It's supposed to feel like your hope of trying to change John Doe is futile, but the song makes it feel different.
I feel like Jane Doe's voice is way too high pitched, and again, it doesn't match how the song feels and the situation you're in.
I also feel like the developers are just adding things to appeal without putting proper thought into it.
