Found an actual Weird Route in Block Tales

No, I'm not kidding. Has anyone else encountered this? It's pretty obscure.

Important mention: This isn't real. This was just inspired by this video by Universal Timeline Archival Unit: Hateful Battle - Block Tales: Impure Route

People have joked about it a lot, but I actually ended up finding an alternate route/equivalent to the Deltarune Weird Route in the game. This mainly affects Chapter 5, changing the progression and having three unique fights specific to this route. I discovered this 7/5/2026, on a save that I hadn't beaten Chapter 5 in.

I don't know how this plays out in multiplayer—I assume it's completely different, but I haven't had the time to test it. (I have friends, I swear.)

Walkthrough

The first step involves Hatred and the Nirvana. It's kind of similar to how you used to obtain the Call: Cruel King card—you have to kill Hatred several times to progress to the next step, though how much I'm not sure. About 9-10 times, I think? If the dialogue says "It seems it was looking forward to your presence" instead of the usual "It awakens," you're doing something right.

Once you beat Hatred for the final time, it speaks to you and you recieve a card called "assist" (It doesn't have capitalization in-game.) It used the Charge texture and initially functions like that card—giving the player Level 3 ATK up for 6 turns, but in the journal it just says "Use" in the description. You find this card in your "Strategy" tab.

Initially, it sucks as a card, costing as much as a Call card to equip and having a whopping 10 SP cost. Why I still had it equipped after using it the first time? Don't know. Was still kinda curious about it. But I still had it equipped, and that's the main thing.

The next step happens way later, all the way in Redcliff. This is where things start getting interesting—by this point, the "Assist" card functions differently and had a different icon—the Call: Cassie card texture. Using it during a fight where Cassie is alongside you makes her use Smite on an enemy. (no, I don't know why it's only Smite). This also applies to enemies that, normally, she is hardcoded not to attack—which includes Redcliff Knights, and the other Trinity enemies. These enemies will fight Cassie once this is done. You have to do this in every encounter to progress.

After a while, a cutscene will play where the Telamon cutscene would normally. Cassie asks about why you're telling her to fight the Redcliff army, and why you aren't doing anything either. There are two options, but the one that I picked (I was kind of consumed by the Weird Route curiosity by this point so please don't be concerned) was "so you become worthy". The rest of the cutscene involves Cassie psyching herself up, saying that she's going to be fine, that she just has to prove her worth, etc. etc.

Continue progressing through Redcliff and using Assist on every enemy until you reach Reginald's throne. Reginald has some different dialogue, talking about how his army has yet to come back and that he assumes the player had a hand in it, but otherwise it's quite similar. This fight is where I presume the route splits—this felt like a point of no return.

I believe you can cancel the route by defeating Reginald normally, but if you use Assist to defeat Reginald, the cutscene doesn't play, the music cuts, and Reginald will be completely missing. Interacting with his throne will just say "You had nothing to look at."

This is where the route completely shifts from regular progression! Spoilers ahead in case you want to try the route for yourself.

Past this point, a lot of differences are made obvious. The cost of Assist has dropped to 5 SP, the "Run" option in Strategies is missing, and the Splintered Skies music is slowed down and is a little shorter I think? (here's a shoddy recreation: skies.mp3).

There's a unique cutscene during the boat ride in Splintered Skies that don't occur anywhere else. Cassie will ask if what the player and her are doing is right, if proving her worth really involves attacking Trinity members. You can only respond with "this is how it goes". She continues talking about how she wishes Kleos was there to guide her. You get the dialogue options "we can't go back now" or "you need to be stronger", but either would probably get you the same result.

Continuing to progress through Splintered Skies similarly to Redcliff will inevitably lead to Robur's court.

Instead of the courtroom scene, Robur will be standing in the middle of the courtroom alone, talking about how they found Reginald unresponsive and was ready to face the perpetrator, then finding Cassie and the player. The two talk, Robur being shocked and all, before a battle begins. Robur is solo in this fight.

The Robur fight is kind of less intense compared to his usual encounter alongside Azuri and Reginald, but I think his attacks were buffed a little to compensate (his health was also increased to 35). The music is also something completely original, sounding like something from ULTRAKILL more than anything. Assisting also deals only 2 damage this encounter, probably because Cassie doesn't want to hurt Robur or something like that. Maybe it's just balancing.

Once defeated, a cutscene plays where Cassie runs away. She's no longer going to accompany you throughout the Astral Skies and further, which makes things a little harder, but not by much. You can still call other allies during this period, but Assist will not do anything to them. Music is also different (recreation here: isles.wav) mission above also says "Get to Trinity" instead of "Traverse Astral Isles." There is no observatory puzzle or cutscene, nor is there any sign of Frostmaw.

Trinity also has some differences. The crowd will now have disappeared, alongside most NPCs and shopkeepers in the area (except Spaceman Sam). There will be no Trinity Council encounter in the Castle, and the Seventh Sanctum is already open (though I don't know how considering the sanctum key wasn't assembled but that's not important.)

There will be one encounter in the middle of the Seventh Sanctum with Emerald Knights. They aren't anything special, but they do have high health for regular enemies (having upwards to 20 health at most) and have attacks that were hard to get used to dodging.

Before reaching the Windforce area, the game tells you "you have the strong urge to call for help... you may need to equip Assist." The fight will not initiate if you do not have Assist equipped. Once you reach the Windforce area itself, you get a cutscene with Azuri, talking about how you've killed two of the three council members and that she should strike you down. She then takes the Windforce. This is where the boss begins.

Azuri has about 40 health in this, same amount as Reginald's first fight, but she also has the Armored trait, with her max armor at 4. She has the same attacks as she does in her Trinity fight, but with two extras:

- Wind Slash: Azuri approaches the player and, after briefly raising the Windforce, swings down, dealing 15 damage and inflicting Slow on the player.

- Whirlwind: Azuri approaches the player and begins to spin with her sword out, dealing 4 damage 4 consecutive times, dealing 16 damage and inflicting Defense Down on the player.

Once depleting her health to 1, the Persevere effect from the Blackrock King fight will happen, and will last infinitely. The move here is to use Assist repeatedly, which leads to Azuri questioning why the player is still trying to call her for help. But eventually, after a while, Smite is cast, and Azuri dies.

The final cutscene shows Cassie walking up to the player, then to the Windforce on the ground. She takes the Windforce and gives it to the player. The only thing she says is "This is what you came here for." She walks away, and you get the end screen, with the same jingle and everything. You will not be able to find Cassie around the area, nor will you find any NPCs in any of the cities (except for Cluemer and Spaceman Sam). The music has gone back to normal, except in the Seventh Sanctum, where no music will play.

This is the end of the differences in Chapter 5. There may be more in later chapters, but that's still up in the air.

Mysterious figure idea

Since many people think mysterious figure might be player/ Jon from an alternate timeline/future, Ive thought of smth! Like at the end there's a chance we unmask the mysterious figure, and if we had avatar flavors on such as plain or grape, it would be cool if unmasked mysterious figure would reflect that (like a older version of the avatar flavor we are using) (problem is many people use their normal avatars so idk)

My idea sucks tbh lol
