Finished my first Nabokov! King, Queen, Knave (1st Ed. too). I got a question about one character tho.

What's up with the character 'Enricht'? Is he just there for the laughs, or does he represent something? As someone who loves analysing characters (maybe too much), his eluded me, especially towards the end when the point of view briefly shifted to his.

[This is just a passing thought that came to me; I have zero knowledge on starting an online magazine of any sort but if enough of you people are interested, then we can discuss and learn along the way!]

I'm (23M) a first year language and literature student, and I've realized that in order to improve my (novice) way of writing I have to immerse myself with fellow writers of diverse culture, perspective, and style. So this post is also a call for those who are looking to improve one's writing and to help another improve theirs in return.

What the (hypothetical) magazine could be about: Think a smaller scale McSweeney's or NYRB.

Genre/s: All types of literary forms/genres (essays, short stories, poems; any written work that stands on its own - so no serial publications, etc.) that provoke yourself and readers to think; anything from your personal experiences that transformed you/others might relate to, something funny that you've witnessed, the batshit magical realism story you've been putting off writing, thoughts on a book you've recently read, poems about everything or nothing - in short, anything personal. All art is political, but I don't think any work that contains overtly partisan writing will fit in this one.

Goals/expectations/commitment: To critique each other's works, to lend advice, give out motivations, and to produce among us someone(s) that will one day win an international writing competition

Writing/experience level: (1) You can write and understand in English (optional), (2) You have that little voice in your head (required)

Meeting place: Discord, WhatsApp, Substack, wherever we can all agree on

Max size: Maximum of 10 maybe.

There's no monetization of any kind in here - I'm only looking for those who want to do this for the love of the game.

If you're interested, don't hesitate to DM me. I would prefer if you DM rather than comment on this post. I'm not on Reddit a lot so my replies might be delayed but I'll always get back to you if you message. Alternatively, you can add my Discord (dasmyfootman) as I receive notifications regularly on there. :)
