Why the Dog Man movie SUCKED (in my opinion)

(This is all MY OPINION so don’t downvote me and DON’T attack me. But if you don’t agree with me, you’re free to downvote. Just don’t downvote it to hell for freaking god‘s sake)

So anyway.. What they got wrong in the movie:

  1. The doctor is a MALE, not a female.

  2. The butler is a male. NOT a female goth girl.

  3. They changed the character designs too much to the point where I don’t even recognize their original book counterparts anymore.

  4. They stole the art style from the Big Nate TV show from Nickelodeon. Which makes the film’s look purely lazy and unoriginal.

What they SHOULD’VE done is adapt the book’s actual art style and turn it into CGI while still keeping the kid-drawn charm. Which feels like an absolutely missed opportunity.

  1. Harold is supposed to be voiced by a MALE. Not an adult woman.

  2. They didn’t add George & Harold introducing Dog Man in the beginning of the movie. Which they didn’t have to but would’ve made the film extra special if they did.

  3. The Beastly Buildings are NOT stylish.

  4. The Butler marries/dates a smelly trash bag, not a beastly building. Which is fine as long as it didn’t ruin the film which unfortunately already happened.

  5. Chief dates/marries Nurse Lady, not Sarah Hatoff. Which is the stupidest change they did in my opinion.

  6. And last of all, they DID NOT have the backgrounds be faithful to the books in CGI form.

My obvious fix:

Delete all the scenes from the final movie and have the deleted scenes be animated and have them in the final cut of the film. And also keep everything the same like in the books but adapt the book’s actual art style and turn it into CGI while still keeping the kid-drawn charm and still feel cinematic.

Anyway those are my thoughts. Feel free to tell yours in the comments.

I need genuine help writing an inciting incident for a buddy comedy I'm writing.

Hi so I'm using Khan Academy for a private story I'm writing, and NO.. I'm NOT saying you need to write for me. I just need examples so I could take inspiration from them and add my own imagination to it.

But when I search up something on Google, like "Examples of an inciting incident from a buddy comedy -ai" and frustratingly enough, it won't give me the answer.

And now I feel... stuck.

And all the other ideas for an inciting incident I have are just gonna make my friend say "Ew, that sounds like a ripoff of [insert something from media similar to my idea here]!" or "Hey! That's from [insert something from media that is really similar to my idea here]!"

Any inciting incident examples from a buddy comedy? Thank you for reading this!

Hi so I'm writing a completely different story from the rest of my projects (It's private so I'm not telling you) and I'm using Khan Academy for writing and I made two good characters who are opposites. Now I wanna write a foil villain that is an opposite of two opposite characters. But... how..?! This makes no sense, whatsoever.

I searched up a post on this subreddit from 5 years ago, expecting a solution, but unfortunately the guy's post mentioned that one of his two characters is the antagonist. Which did NOT help my issue at all and frustrated me even more. Here: https://www.reddit.com/r/WritingHub/comments/nvc0yz/how_do_you_write_a_foil/
