Really hoping for a VBAC with baby #2

Just wondering if anyone here has experience with this or any advice to offer.

My first baby came at 35 weeks. My water fully broke, I did not go into labor, was induced 24 hours later, 48 hours after my water broke, only dilated up to 3cm. Ended up with a c section and was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia.

Pregnant again and delivering at a different hospital. Their policy is that they do not induce prior c-sections. At first I was like that’s fine, but after talking to some friends who successfully had VBACs, they all needed an induction at some point.

I am 24 weeks pregnant and I am reallyyyyy hoping/praying for a VBAC but if my hospital doesn’t even entertain inductions, I feel like I won’t even get a decent shot at it.

There is another hospital that has a high success rate for VBACs, I know they do inductions and they are highly staffed to handle any issues.

I would just like to hear any mamas out there who had VBACs or were not able to have VBACs… how important is it to be able to have an induction?Should I switch hospitals? Is it too late at this point? Given that I did not dilate past 3cm last time, would an induction even work on me? Any advice is appreciated!

Daycare Names

Was looking on Amazon for shirts for my toddler and found this picture in the reviews for a set of shirts. It was a daycare teacher who customized the shirts for her class. At least there are several normal names here.

Honor names for Grandpa

Hi all,

My grandpa passed away on Monday, and I'd love to hear some ideas of how I could honor him by incorporating his name into our baby girl's name.

His name was Wilbert and everyone called him Willy.

So far I've thought of Willa, Willow, and Wilhelmina. My family isn't a fan of Wilhelmina (and neither was my grandpa when I mentioned it a few weeks ago 😂).

I'd love to hear any other ideas. Thank you!

Looking for Strong, Classic Girl Name

Hi all! We are expecting our first daughter (and second child) in a few months, and I’m really struggling with names.

Part of the problem is that my name is Theresa and I’ve never loved a girl name as much as my own. Every single doll I’ve had was named Theresa. There has never been another girl name that I loved as much as mine. That said, I definitely do not want to name my daughter after me lol.

Our son is named Joseph, after his father (but not a junior as they have different middle names). I personally hate the whole junior concept, but it was really important to my husband, and I also didn’t have a boy name I loved, so we settled on father’s first name with my grandfather’s middle name. I have no problem using family/honor names, but the whole junior thing always bothered me (plus I know paperwork is a nightmare… I’ve already experienced inconveniences booking flights and he’s not even a junior).

Now that we’re having a girl, I feel completely stumped.

We both love classic girl names and would prefer “stronger” names. The middle name will be Naomi (Japanese version), after my mom.

Another issue we are running into is that we are Catholic and my husband has a huge family. We would love some sort of Catholic name, but all of the solid Catholic girls names have been taken by his immediate family.

For this reason, we can’t use Catherine, Claire, Ruth, Rachel, Gemma, Elizabeth, Anne, Felicity, Margaret, or Penelope. Josephine is also off the table because I refuse to have a house full of Jos lol.

His mom is Mary and we aren’t totally opposed to using that name or a variation of that name. We briefly considered Malia since it is the Hawaiian form of Mary, and I’m from Hawaii, but again, don’t necessarily love it.

Right now, the front runner and only name we’ve agreed on is Alexandra. My one small hesitation is that I’m not a nickname person and Alexandra has so many possible nicknames.

I would love to see if any of you can help us find a strong, classic girl name that we both love.

Some other names we’ve kinda liked but have not loved have been Natalie, Isabel, Emilia, Jacqueline, Adele.

Thank you!

Any Gertrudes Out There?

I’ve heard people say that every single Gertrude they’ve met in real life absolutely hates their name and does not go by “Gertrude,” but by a nickname like “Gertie” or “Trudy.”

This is coming from people with grandmas named Gertrude (one said their grandma said she would curse anyone who named a future child Gertrude, even if it was after her) and people who worked with the elderly in hospitals. Apparently no one has ever met a Gertrude who has actually liked her name.

Just curious if there are any Gertrudes out there who actually like their name and go by Gertrude and not a nickname.
