Let me just start by saying that I know some of the people behind this mod, and this is not an attack on them whatsoever, just my honest thoughts on the mod and the state of this community. Let's get into it.

A Billionaire, A Revolutionary is one of if not the worst mods I've ever played. I did a playthrough (Got Bernie vs Trump with a slight Trump victory) to get an opinion of it and I am mad that I wasted 15 minutes on it. This is the first TCT mod I've played that I actually disliked. There are many reasons why, so let's look at every aspect of it.

The concept: The concept of this mod is something out of a mid r/IE post. Hillary wouldn't pick Bernie as VP. Even if she did it wouldn't go to the senate. Even if it did they wouldn't elect Bernie. Even if they did Bernie wouldn’t randomly collaborate with a man that goes against everything he stands for while Trump wouldn't compromise on things. He would, at best, become de-facto opposition leader. In here, Trump is basically a progressive who ended up in the wrong party while Bernie is a combination of John Fetterman and Stephen Miller. Every question can be summed up by "he would not fucking do/say that". There's a difference between being a bit unrealistic and making a mod about different people altogether. This isn't character assasination, this is character kidnapping, drowning and torture.

The gameplay: The gameplay feels so lackluster. Passing or not passing things was easy and felt meaningless. Bernie getting the nomination after he killed Obamacare is nonsensical. The campaign portion was just repetitive and clichéd.

The writing: This is the worst writing in a TCT mod I've ever seen. Grammatical mistakes everywhere. The Trumpisms are pathetic, just capitalizing random words and talking in american slang. It feels like you described Trumpisms to someone who's never interacted with US politics and then asked him to write said trumpisms. Everything felt so hollow because of this, nothing mattered. Everything you did gave you back a cheap copy of how Trump is supposed to sound. I saw people complaining about OR when it first came out Compared to this, OR is TTNW. The endigs are also so bad. American Carnage endings has subtle hints of how each president's policies impact the US and the world. TTNW ones depict the impact every iteration of RFK or his succesor had on american society and culture. DSA has beautiful homages to the victims of the Palestinian genocide. This mod gave me TWO victory speeches and a badly written politico article about the next midterms. Wow how thrilling.

Now for the second part of why I don't like this mod: The community's reaction.

This mod feels like everything wrong with the TCT community. The understanding of politics of ABAR is as surface level as many people here's. Politics is dark, shitty, complex, while a lot of people here seem to think it summarizes to "wow glup shitto is in this incumbency sim" and "What if OBAMA won MONTANA wouldn't that be WACKY". Another thing that pisses me off about this community is the critique of "cynicism" (I.e. mods having messages). A lot of "cynical" mods people compain about (AC, W, TTNW, even Obamanation) have some truth at the core of their message. Even AOC, whose message I didnt really agree with, depicts a lot parts of US politics accurately. At the risk of repeating myself, politics ARE SUPPOSED to be cynical. Politicians ARE BAD PEOPLE. ABAR listened to these complaints from the community and ended up whitewashing Donald Trump, one of the most vile people of the 21st century.

In conclusion, ABAR is not a good mod. Very far from it. It takes very bad writing and combines it with some of the most asinine complaints of this community to spit out a boring, surface level borderline parody of TCT mods (mostly AC, taking place in the same time period and trying to imitate the writing style). It's an example of what TCT mods should avoid to be, and I really really hope it doesn't become the standard for future mods.
