In the film we are told by the president that the western forces of Texas and California are secessionist attempting to break away from the United states and form their own nations. However nothing about that makes sense and the entire story falls apart. Their flag would cause massive amounts of friendly fire and confusion, theres no way in hell California and Texas would be able to sustain an army force thousands of miles outside of their boarders in even the best conditions let alone having loosing all their supply lines, killing the president is actually counter productive to their goal of secession.

My theory The western Forces arent secestionist but a millitary rebel organization (possibly lead by the vice president) designed to restore the us constitution and depose the facist president then restore the Union. The vast majority of the us military defected over to the western forces so thats why the president isnt immediately evaced out as soon as the western forces arrived in Virginia because everyone with the technology to evac him already defected.

My evidence for them not being secessionist is because when we do see them

1. There flag is litterally the us flag but with only 2 stars, this would Cause so many problems for them, and there would be almost no way to distinguish whos who form from beyond point blank range.

2. When we see the western forces, all their tanks and APCs dont say "property of the Texas millitary" or "California millitary" or even "western forces millitary" they all say "property of the United States millitary WF" (WF spary painted UNDER the United States millitary).

3. With the United states congress and senate having been dissolved by the facist president, that would mean only the president would be able to recognize the independence of texas and California as sovereign nations. So killing him would actually hurt their goal. Unless they weren't trying to be independent but get rid of him directly so they can have a new president put in charge.

4. Secessionist ussually are never able to operate outside of their territory. We see this in the american revolutionaries who attempted to invade loyal canada they got thier ass beat. We also see this at places like Gettysburg or another place i cant remember. Theres no way In hell texas and California would be able to sustain a millitary force all the way in DC especally after loosing their supply lines as stated in the film. Not without the support of a majority of the american public, who would not be supportive of secessionist.

5. The only time we hear that they are secessionist is from the president, who we know: is a Facist dictator, annulled the constitution, dismantled congress/senate/FBI, and is currently engaging in airstrikes against american citizens. He has every reason to lie about them being secessionist.
