Thumb Sucking

I have a 5 year old who will not sucking her thumb. People said she'd grow out of it, and she has not. We tried the gross nail polish and she got used to the taste. And after the nail polish time it got worse. She was getting so good at not sucking all the time, and mostly just at bed time. But it's back to being ALL THE TIME.

I'm at my wits end.

I've had people suggest getting her something else to chew or suck on instead, but that seems unhelpful in the long term?? Is there super-strength bitter nail polish? Should I duct tape at mitten to her hand so she won't do it? (For legal purposes - I obviously will not do this - haha.)

She's starting kindergarten and I just want her to be done. But I also understand that part of the time she does it to self-soothe (the other part is habit). So taking it away seems harsh without replacing it with another coping mechanism??

CFO and AI

I report to the CFO and they have now been given access to various AI tools. They have started popping data sets into AI and having it spit out reports. This is maddening for a multitude of reasons.

  1. These shit AI reports are now being circulated around my company as “coming from finance.” Before AI, that would mean me or my team, and I have a certain standard (ya know… accuracy, for starters). Now I’m getting questions on these reports from people and I’m screaming into the void, “I DIDN’T MAKE THIS!”
  2. CFO sends me reports and says, “What’s wrong with this?” Oh I don’t know, a million things.

BRB, adding “Babysitter of AI Usage” to my resume.

Stawberries

I am not new to container gardening, but I am new to this monstrosity. 😆 My daughter talked me into it at the store. Is there any hope for this tiny container of strawberries? What do I need to know about growing strawberries?

I chopped my FLF about six weeks ago. I was a bit worried because I had heard that they didn't always regrow leaves when the previous leaves had fallen off. Aaaand all these leaves had fallen off. But Things Are Happening!! All the pink lines are regrowth, some teeny tiny ones, but green is there! The first big leave on top does look a little weird, but it's there!

This is one of the most exciting plant projects I've had in a while.
