Thanks to this community, I can finally say goodbye to my (dalmatian) spots!

Shoutout to u/silverhammer1979 for the lead, tysm!

Im planning to use this pharmaceutical-grade TXA for 2 things:

  1. Depigmenting - it's a tyrosinase inhibitor with many peer-reviewed evidence-based studies
  2. Bruising protocol - originally used for bleeding, so I will look into protocols on how to minimally bruise with my DIY procedures - before, during and after the procedure.

I'll report back.

Face contouring! Lipolytics, fillers, HIFU, RF

After my recent body contouring post, Im sharing now my face contouring journey over the course of about 2 years.

So here's what worked:

  1. Weight loss / Body recomposition - I've been working out for a while now but the past two years I paid attention to getting an aesthetic physique and a face to match it. There's separate groups for optimization of fitness, nutrition, supps, etc and I will leave it to those places.

  2. Fillers - My face is naturally gaunt due to genetics and Ive been getting cheek fillers since 2013 so the before photos here are already filled. Initially I had my chin and jaw done by my injector at medspa but I wasnt too happy with the shape. Later on decided to DIY which lead to the current shape now (after photo).

  3. Lipolytics - I have some underchin fat and Dr Lipo took care of it. 3 sessions one month apart worked suprisingly well.

  4. Buccal fat modification - My left lower cheek is naturally hollow and it showed up more when I lost weight. It was uneven and to achieve symmetry, I decided to "carve" out the right lower cheek by using HIFU w/ RF and Coolwaves.

  5. Lower face contour - to maintain shape, low fat and reduce swelling caused by the chin and jaw fillers, I use the same machines - HIFU w/ RF (once or every other week) and Coolwaves 2-3x a week.

Here's my previous post re body contouring journey.

Body Contouring (repost as original post removed)

Left before, right after, 12 months apart

Maintaining a fit physique in my 40s is a lot harder than it was in my 20s. Aging is relentless. Fighting gravity, skin laxity, stubborn fat, and muscle loss is real. Enter body contouring. It is a non-invasive alternative to surgical liposuction. Results are gradual, not instant, and takes a lot of commitment. It is not a treatment for weight loss or obesity and will not work if one has a high body fat percentage.

I started doing body contouring when I was below 16%. Now im at 10-11%, after a year of doing these.

Here are the tools and products that worked for me:

  1. MS-2102 RF with Ultrasonic Cavitation - its low price appealed to me and I like how effective it is especially when done frequently. I use this every other day for about 10-15minutes. It claims to burn fat, tighten skin. The only con of this product is the wheezing sound produced by ultrasound waves. I use noise cancelling earbuds as a workaround. Bonus: It works well in clearing the bruises.

  1. 25D 360 MAX HIFU - also known as Ulthera - It uses highly-focused ultrasound waves to target specific layers and depths. I use attachments in 18mm, 13mm, and 8mm. It has built-in RF and EMS which helps with skin tightening. I use this once a week or every other week at low energy. Research properly on HIFU before diving in as it can cause burns, indentations when done incorrectly. This is a professional equipment.

  1. Coolwaves- also known as Onda. Uses 2.4ghz frequency the same as the microwave to burn fat, cellulites and tighten skin. It doesnt get as hot as the HIFU and RF , but it works on deeper layers. The quality and transmission of heat is different from the machines previously mentioned.

Note: These machines are 1st generation by Deka. The original patent has expired and its partner manufacturer was able to acquire the rights.

  1. Lipolytics - Deoxycholate and Phosphatidylcholine - this is how I started with my body contouring journey. Dr Lipo is my OG, but it also gives the most pain and swelling that persisted for a week. I pretty much tried all of the korean lipolytics but I kept coming back to this brand.

Adding 1ml 2% lidocaine and 0.5 ml 40mg/ml Kenalog to every 10 ml vial will significantly lessen the pain and swelling. Here is the korean protocol (2021) for this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTFxuimlQ4g&t=19s

Recognize that the abdominal area is the MOST RESISTANT. I find them to keep coming back few weeks after the treatment. And that's the reason why I added RF + HIFU + coolwaves to my body contouring journey.

  1. Body HA fillers - I used these on specific areas for added projection such as deltoids, triceps, pectorals quads, calves. I use 18g x100mm cannula. Body fillers need periodic retouch, about every 4-8 months depending on one's metabolism.

  2. Weight loss program. As mentioned earlier, body contouring will only work if one has already low body fat percentage.

Weight loss program consists of optimized nutrition, weight training, rest, stress management, and in some cases use of pep tides as adjunct to boost or maintain the results. There's plenty of other subreddit dedicated to these topics and I wont go into details about this.

CONS:

  1. Multiple sessions needed. It's a series of treatment, not a one time big time event.

RF-UC every other day

HIFU every 1 or 2 weeks at low energy.

Coolwaves every other day at low energy

Lipolytics every 4-6 weeks for 3 sessions , then rest for few months

Body Fillers every 4-8 months

  1. Maintenance. Like every procedure, it has an upkeep. Keeping a fit body is high maintenance.

  2. Cost. If I'm to sum all this up it will be similar to a surgical liposuction done in a lower cost of living country.

  3. Downtime. Lipolytics and fillers have a long downtime of about more than a week or so. Schedule your life events accordingly

  4. Risks and Complications. Bruises, redness, swelling , burns, indentation, PIH, hypopigmentation, hemosiderin staining, biofilm nodules, foreign body encapsulation are all part of the game and one needs to be prepared enough in terms of knowledge and skills to handle these.

re20 FINE for undereyes!

My experience with my 1st Re20 Original about 2 weeks ago for the face is great, so I thought to order the FINE variant for the undereyes.

My undereyes are such a huge problem lately - hollowness, dark circles. I already did 4 Polynucleotide sessions tho it has improved but i need better intervention for volume, and longer lasting results.

Hopefully re20 FINE will be the answer to my undereye issue.

Also, an IMPORTANT insider information:

Sesalo brand (white box on top) is basically the same product as the Re20 Original. Im attaching the pictures here for side by side comparison! Even the seal is from the same L&C Bio Company.

Huge huge savings!

I ordered from this website. Note that this is a legit website, they have genuine products, plenty high trustpilot reviews.

Note: Im not an influencer, nor affiliated with any company. I just love doing everything DIY in aesthetics and beauty.

Note: The original 1st generation Onda machine by Deka has its patent expired and its partner manufacturer was able to acquire the rights as part of the licensing agreement. This gave way to generic versions from different ODMs/OEMs.

Lipolytics

  1. Body HA fillers - I used these on specific areas for added projection such as deltoids, triceps, pectorals (lateral aspect only), calves. I use 18g x100mm cannula. Important to note with body HA fillers is these need frequent retouch, about every 4-8 months depending on your metabolism.

  2. Weight loss program. As mentioned earlier, body contouring will only work if one has already low body fat percentage. My trainer told me before that at least 15% below for men. ( Im not sure on the % for women, it can be higher as the fat distribution is different)

Weight loss program consists of optimized nutrition, weight training, rest, stress management, and in some cases use of pep tides as adjunct to boost or maintain the results. There's plenty of other subreddit dedicated to these topics and I wont go into details about this.

Coolwaves every other day
Lipolytics every 4-6 weeks for 3 sessions , then rest for few months

  1. Maintenance. Like every procedure, it has an upkeep. Beauty is pricey, regardless if it's DIY or in-clinic.

  2. Cost. If I'm to sum all this up it will be similar to a surgical liposuction done in a lower cost of living country.

  3. Downtime. Lipolytics and fillers have a long downtime of about a week or so. Dealing with bruises, redness, and swelling is a whole different topic to talk about but know that this needs to be part of the preparation. Anti-bruise vitamin K gels, creams, arnica lotions and tablets, cold and warm therapy are the keywords here.

  4. Risks and Complications. Burn, indentation, PIH, hypopigmentation, hemosiderin, biofilm nodules, foreign body encapsulation are important topics one has to know about.

Chinese Botox

Has anyone tried this chinese botox from ali ? these come in plain unlabeled vials.

I've used almost all the korean brands and so far i've been happy with Botulax (Letybo in USA) but since korean vendors are having customs issue lately, im thinking to try this chinese botox.

let me know if anyone has experience with this.

I just got back home from my HT surgery in India at The Skin Centre Clinic with Dr. Abhinav Kumar. I want to share my experience since I know how difficult researching surgeons can be, especially for advanced cases like mine.

My case is complicated. This was my 3rd HT, and my graft supply is limited as my first HT decades ago was botched and left me with a strip scar. My 2nd HT four years ago was successful and done by a huge, well-known clinic also in India but I decided not to return after reading multiple recent not-so-good reviews which made me hesitant.

Months of research led me knowing Dr. Kumar through a book about hair transplant surgery featuring great several surgeons in the field, some of these authors I have previously met. I looked more into Dr Kumar's work and later saw patient posts, results, and discussions about him online and that increased my confidence in his skills and experience.

Dr. Kumar was realistic about my situation. Due to my limited donor supply, prior surgeries, strip scarring, ongoing recession of native hairs, and aggressive hairloss genes despite being on medications , the goal was not density but strategic placement and long-term sustainability.

He used around 3,500 grafts combined scalp and beard donor areas to improve fullness in the crown, vertex, hairline, temples, and thinning areas behind the temples. Considering my limitations, I feel that the graft placement was skillful yet artistic.

What I appreciated most about this experience was the personalized approach. Dr. Kumar only does one HT patient per day, so I never felt rushed. He listened carefully, accommodated my concerns, and made the process collaborative.

Additionally, his staff treated me with incredible hospitality including his wife. Everyone was warm and kind. They made me feel comfortable the entire time which added to an overall positive experience.

For anyone dealing with repair work or limited grafts, I think finding a surgeon who understands long-term planning is extremely important. Dr Abhinav Kumar delivered exceptionally well with flying colors!
