I am EXHAUSTED. I’m getting tired of being black.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d choose to be black in EVERY lifetime but recently, this world just find ways to continuously piss me off.

Trump is now allowing his insurrectionist to file lawsuits against the government for a payout! But YET blacks have been in this country mistreated by the government and we haven’t gotten shit in advance! Y’all, we need to organize and really create our own! Shit is getting ridiculous! I’m not sure why this really pissed me off this morning but it did!

Anyways, I’m just venting. I want better for us. I want better for our children. And I just want us to finally be treated fairly. But it seems like the only way that’ll happen is if we do the same thing to them that they did to us.

Does social media make it seem like we say the N-word more than we actually do?

Everywhere I turn there’s someone saying the N-word. N-word this, N-word that. Maybe I’m a boujie black person but my family hardly ever says this word and I honestly find the word very offensive. I’m a 30 year old woman and it’s been out of my vocabulary ever since I was 18. I also grew up in the middle class. My mom was a teacher and my dad is in construction. I hardly ever heard her say the word and my dad would say the word to describe dope boys and etc.

In order to achieve actual fairness in our elections we need to move towards a proportional representation system.

I’m tired of the gerrymandering and I’m tired of political power being weakened for other parties to gain advantage. The VRA was put into place because black people weren’t able to fairly vote and be fairly represented and we are moving right back in that direction. That was the entire reason behind the VRA.

If majority of black people (~85%) vote Democrat, then having a map based on “party lines” will still in fact look discriminatory. I’m done with the political manipulation. The way a map is drawn is what determines your winners vs the actual people. If 40% of your voters are Democrat then 40% or roughly damn near your state reps should be that.

Ending gerrymandering is the only way to be fair across the board.

Do you ever feel either exhausted or “fake” due to code switching?

Hey y’all! I’m a 30 year old woman. I’m a paramedic and I’m working my way into Physician Assistant school. I’m also a real estate investor on the side and have started to try and network with others to gain experience and knowledge.

I’ve noticed that with my professional side I can’t really be myself or I’m not fully myself. Like I’ll typically speak more “proper” unless I’m around another black person and that’s where I’ll let my AAVE slip out in my speech. I’ve noticed I’ll do this with black patients as well vs white patients. Hell, is that racist? lol. The professional me is much more quiet and observant and I don’t try to take up space. I’m just in the background. But the personal me is much more outgoing and fun. At work I’m also more feminine presenting but the personal me prefers T-shirt and baggy jeans. Apart of me feels like I’m coming off “fake” or maybe I fear my family and friends would think this. I feel like as black women we have to shape-shift. Our reality is so much different than white people, especially if stereotypes are pushed every other day.

Idk y’all. I’m just curious. My mom died when I was 17 and she never really gave me a speech about how the world would view me and how I’d have to show up. So I’m trying to learn and go from there. I’ve unfortunately made mistakes and my true personality has gotten me into trouble. Sorry if this is all over the place!

What have your experiences been?

Porn is becoming a problem and contributes to the male loneliness epidemic.

The consumption of porn is becoming incredibly problematic. Erectile dysfunction is increasing in younger men that has been directly linked to porn.

40% of men who consumes porn on a normal basis also reported depression and other mental health illnesses. Porn is setting unrealistic body standards for both men and women that is also contributing to depression and loneliness. Increased consumption of porn has been linked to increased sexual objectification of women. There is a positive correlation between the normalization of porn and sexual violence.

45% of people who watch porn states that it has damaged their real-life relationships. A lot of these numbers may be under reported. These numbers may be closer to 50 and 60%.

People will get their release from porn and then feel empty inside because we’re human. We’re made to want and desire community. Not just a screen displaying a fantasy.

Porn is becoming a problem. It is contributing to the male loneliness epidemic. Men on average in younger generations do not know how to approach most women because they never had too. And I also feel like this plays a role into why our birth rates are down.

P.S. When I say men and women I am generalizing. I know not all men and women do this!
