First-year panic: Tuition due tomorrow (Aug 15) and I’m on OSAP — do I have to pay right now?

Hey everyone, I'm starting my first year this Fall and I'm a bit confused/stressed about tuition payment.

I received the email saying Fall 2026 tuition is due tomorrow, August 15. My balance is around $5,000, which I don't have upfront to pay out of pocket.

I have applied for OSAP, but I’m not entirely sure how the process works with the deadline:

  1. Does OSAP automatically pay UWindsor directly once classes start, or was I supposed to pay upfront and wait for a refund?
  2. Where in UWinsite Student can I confirm that the university sees my OSAP ("Anticipated Aid") so I don't get hit with late fees or interest?
  3. If my OSAP doesn't cover the full amount, do I just pay whatever remaining difference shows up?

Any help or advice from upper-year students would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Studying resources

Hello everyone,

Which website is the best for finding university tests, exercises, and past exams that students or universities have uploaded? For example, I'm looking for final exams and similar study materials.

I've come across two websites: Studocu and Course Hero. Which one has a larger collection of resources and is more widely used?

Beginner Resources for COMP 1000 & COMP 1400?

I’m starting my first year in Computer Science in Fall 2026, and I’ll be taking COMP 1000 and COMP 1400. I was wondering if there are any online courses or YouTube tutorials you’d recommend that could help me get a head start over the summer. I’d like to build some basic understanding so the semester feels a bit easier and I have an idea of what to expect.

If I already have a Bachelor of Computer Science – Software Engineering Specialization from UWindsor, but I want to become an actual engineer. Can I transfer credits to Western Engineering in London, Ontario for Software Engineering? Would I still need to start from first year, and would I graduate with an engineering bachelor’s degree?

If I study Computer Science, I can work in software engineering, but it may be limited for hardware roles.

If I study ECE, what career options would I have? For example, could I work in software engineering, hardware engineering, embedded systems, robotics, or electronics?

I want the most flexible degree between software and hardware. Which one would you recommend: CS or ECE?

Hello everyone, I have a question about computer engineering at the University of Windsor.

I originally applied for computer science because I enjoy coding and am interested in working in software engineering. However, I recently came across a program called computer engineering. From what I understand, it seems like a combination of computer science and electrical engineering, but I’m not entirely sure what it involves.

When applying, I also chose general engineering so I would have flexibility in selecting a specific field later. I tried to find a dedicated computer engineering program, but I only saw something called Electrical and Computer Engineering.

However, I’m confused because I can’t find any program called Electrical and Computer Engineering on the university’s future students page where all the programs are listed.

I’m not sure how this works—is it a double major, a single combined program, or a major in electrical engineering with a specialization in computer engineering?

Could someone please clarify this for me?
Thanks
