Hey everyone! I’m moving to Detroit in July for work and would love some advice on where to live.
My office is in Downtown Detroit, and I won’t have a car initially, so I’m looking for areas/buildings with decent public transportation, walkability, and overall safety.
Budget: ideally around $1200–1400 max for a studio or 1BR.
I’m also considering areas like Ferndale, Royal Oak, Southfield, and Midtown/Downtown.
Would really appreciate honest opinions on:
Thanks in advance!
I recently graduated and received this email today from the registrar. During undergrad, I was emailed a link to access my digital diploma but that isn’t the case here. Not sure if they still need to confirm a few details before doing so? I sent an email back asking about it, but does anyone else know where we can go to view our degrees?
Hi everyone! I wanted to share a leadership opportunity for anyone at the University of Delaware who is passionate about service, public health, or making a real impact in the community.
Hearts for the Homeless International (H4H) is a student-led nonprofit that provides free blood pressure screenings and heart health education to homeless populations across the U.S. and globally. Our team includes undergraduate students, medical students, PhD students, physicians, and other professionals who are committed to improving the well-being of underserved communities.
H4H was originally founded by students at the University of Central Florida and has grown into an international organization with 15+ chapters across the U.S., Brazil, and India. We’re currently looking for motivated student leaders at the University of Delaware who want to start a chapter and serve the growing and often overlooked homeless community.
This is a great opportunity if you’re interested in leadership, medicine, public health, nonprofit work, or community service. We provide guidance, structure, and support — all we ask for is your time, compassion, and willingness to lead.
Our work has been recognized by the U.S. Congress, the Brazilian government, President Clinton, major educational and medical institutions, and organizations such as Forbes. Our students have also led disaster relief efforts for homeless populations during hurricanes and partnered with major companies like Bombas.

Is anyone else having trouble logging into canvas or academica today? I only get shown a blank white page upon pulling up the mobile app
Winter 26, has by far been my worst semester in my whole Academic Career. Calc 2 whooped my ass, and other life events really messed me up. Gold scholarship says to keep it you must maintain a 3.0 gpa. I got a C- in calc 2 and my GPA is at a 2.8. Lowest it’s ever been in my life. Is there someone I can contact about being able to keep the scholarship? What steps would I need to take to see if they’ll grant me the opportunity to keep it.
Ill try to find free parking and use the gym, but any idea for meals? Is there a meal program I can use occasionally thing or a cheap campus restaurant? I heard something about a plate of food being 3$ from one of the campus food areas. where can I lounge around and study for that amount of time? recommend working on campus?
Take the prescreening survey to see if you qualify!
so basically i messed around too much in high school and my gpa is pretty mid. but i want to do business (management or maybe analytics) and i'm trying to figure out where i can even get in or where won't just ignore me.
i tried searching on here but it’s mostly just people talking about umich/msu and i know i'm not getting into those right now lol. i was looking up stuff about michigan unis and found this guide thingy from northwood university: https://blog.northwood.edu/choosing-best-university-in-michigan-usa/
like if you have a bad gpa is it better to go to a smaller business-focused school where you can actually talk to the professors or should i just go to CC first?? i really want to get into the industry and not just be a number in a giant lecture hall.
any advice for someone trying to turn things around in MI? i'm lost lol. thanks.
I’m an incoming freshman at Wayne State, I’m planning to transfer out of there my freshman year to umich or msu for my sophomore year.
Are there any advice or suggestions that increase my transfer acceptance rate?
Im assuming its the bus train thing, but how reliable is it? free for students is what i heard but where exactly am i supposed to wait and what time to go? i really will have to base my whole schedule on the reliability and timing of this if i'd want to save money parking, which i do, bc im broke.
plz and thx
I graduated with my MSW from Wayne State this semester and am trying to estimate when my final transcripts/certified degree will be posted. I know the registrar’s website gives the standard 2-4 week timeline after the last day of finals answer but that seems pretty broad. I contacted the registrar, the social work department, and graduate admissions and none have answered. I have secured employment that is pending until my degree is awarded and worried that a long wait time will jeopardize my position. Have any other graduates been awarded their degree yet?
hey, upcoming transfer but ive visited the school a couple times. im really wondering about where to find consistent and borderline free parking? plz dont say street parking bc its not consistent and i have to search around multiple buildings. ive parked at restaurants but im not sure what and where else would work. Ill be going to the mike illicit business school and i know there are the two streets behind that are free but what happens if theyre full? not really sure how to approach this without having my wallet fucked by the uni. do the police actually monitor the cars on the street parking? possible to pay for the first hour or two and just leave it for the day? i usually stay on campuses for over 6 hours. dont want to lose 12$ everyday if i dont find parking.
any help appreciated, dont be a narc
As the title implies, I'm shopping around for a university to attend once I've fulfilled my MTA at my community college. I'm gunning for clinical psychology, so I'm doing an LA in Psychology right now. My goal is to do my Bachelors as a Psych major, Neuroscience minor. I have a 3.667 GPA and am hoping to get accepted to the honors program at my college before I leave here. My goal is U of M Ann Arbor if I can keep raising my GPA, but I'm concerned about affordability as a Pell student and I also wish to live on campus. I hear that WSU has good housing accom scholarships from my program advisor, but well. I'd like to hear about the university from students.
What are the pros and cons of this university? What were the best parts of studying here, what are the challenges? What are the best places to eat or hangout? How is it living in the dorms, and how is the social atmosphere? How are your professors? Does the campus look nice? How are the bathrooms? What about the clubs?
Also, has it been easy to make friends for you here? I know this is such a case by case scenario and not quite related to the university itself, but growing up I struggled to make friends. I was never a party kid either, a rather focused student instead. Everyone has said college isn't any different, but part of me still hopes to make college friends. It'd be nice to have people to study with and enjoy the college experience with.
All of that said, I really do want to hear opinions in all honesty about the school. Even ones about things I hadn't mentioned. I'd really just like to be well-informed and have perspectives to consider.
Hey all, I'm interning at General Motors this summer. Ironically, I do not know how to drive (I'm from NYC...), so I'm trying to target places that are closer to Sloan Engineering. Is there anyone subletting? I'm good with having roommates and would split gas costs if we carpooled. Thank you!
For more information:
classes start august 31st for upcoming fall semester. any theories on when move in day will be for incoming students? i assume somewhere between the 21st and 24th but id like other input.
