Still nothing new since 2023?

2023 was a great crpg year with rogue trader, bg3 and to a lesser extent, starfield.

There hasn’t been any crpg of this caliber in three years, and nobody want to compete with gta6 release, so 2027 doesn’t look better.

Most of the games recommended on this sub are old stuff I have already played. I thought with the popularity of bg3, that we would see a big stream of high production crpg, but alas it’s not the case.

Solasta II looks nice, so far. Maybe.

Grounding chassis when outlet doesn't have... ground?

Hello,

So, I dutifully run a ground wire from my IEC chassis socket to the chassis in all my diy projects, then I proceed to connect the IEC cable to a shuko socket in the wall... But my socket doesn't actually have a earth wire going to the electrical panel, only a live and neutral.

I have proper ground wires in the kitchen and in the bathroom, but nowhere else.

Am I actually at risk? I would say yes, it's like my chassis is not really grounded, right? A contact of a nude live wire on the metal chassis would zap me if I touch it?

how to test frosty effect?

Title says it all, do I need to clone a specific branch of cosmic-comp? Or build the whole project?

DIY Headphone amp from AliExpess

Sound is good, Very easy to assemble, I still need to do something about the heat.

What is the best way to fix the transistors on the heat sink? Desolder them from the board, screw them on an aluminum/heatsink plate and then solder them back on the pcb (with small standoff between aluminum plate and pcb)? Any other way?

Ear834 clone psu: where?

I would like to build a tube phono preamp, the ear834 looks nice and there are plenty of information and pcb (the black and gold ones) availables on AliExpress.

However, I can’t seem to find its companion linear psu board anywhere, the black and gold pcb that comes with the zero zone finished build.

Anyway, is a linear psu needed? A bare torroid with a 6.3v is enough for this kind of build?

Training from 7min to 6min for the 400m fs

I am looking for varied sets to improve my 400m freestyle from ~7 minutes to 6 minutes.

My comfortable pace is around 1m40/45 per 100m, I can go for 10 of these paced at 2 minutes, and could probably go indefinitely like this.

I can swim 2 to 3 times a week, 2000m each set. Maybe it’s not enough. I don’t think I can swim more with my current job.

PB is 4’28 but I don’t think it’s quite relevant given current age and the time I am willing to spend in the pool :D

neck exercices recommandations?

I sleep on my belly, with my head turn to the left. There seems to be no way around this, I just don't fall asleep at night if I am not in this position. :(

Consequently, I always seem to be in some sort of neck strain/pain on my right side.

I used to climb, and it did provide some relief, but i don't climb anymore because of a lack of reliable partner, so I went back to swimming (ex-swimmer) which is also just around the corner, so I can go pretty much on a whim.

Anyway, I swim mostly freestyle, breathe on both sides, but my preference is on the right side.

After swimming, my neck pain feels a bit worse, especially if I turn around a bit too fast, I will briefly feel a jolt on the side of the neck (pain level 3-4 out of 10)

So TL;DR: neck pain not related to swimming but somewhat aggravated by swimming.

Any pointer to dryland exercices I could do to relieve this tension?

Training and bpm advice

M51 former comp swimmer, back in the pool since end of january.

I try to swim twice a week, about 1500m each. Here is my last set you can correlate with bpm chart below:

300m free/back 100 each: warmup. (start in zone2 but mostly 3)
8x50m free, start on the minute. (zone 3 and then 4)
50m cooldown
4x50m kick/butterfly with fins and board, hard tempo with generous pause (erratic zone 4-5)
50m cooldown
8x50m free paddles, start on the minute. (looks to be in zone 3)
100m cooldown

My bpm rate looks rather high, and I just can' t really swim in zone2, I think only my cooldown were actually in zone2 and to me that doesn't feel like training at all :D

But my goal is still to build some endurance, I would like to be able to effortlessly swim 500m-800m freestyle without feeling tired.

My warmup is actually too fast, 300 free and my heart rate will start to go up where it's not comfortable to swim more than 400m without completely melting form.

Should I just pursue the same type of training? Add sessions with more bulk swimming at deliberately slower pace than my warmup?
