About two months ago, I released an indie app called Camping Assistant.

The Problem I wanted to solve: If you’ve ever parked a caravan or an RV, you know the annoying drill: You put a spirit level inside on the kitchen, walk outside to crank the jockey wheel, walk back inside to check the bubble, walk back outside because you cranked too far... It's an endless, frustrating back-and-forth.

The Tech & The Evolution: My initial solution was a smartwatch integration. You leave your phone on the kitchen and read the real-time pitch and roll data directly on your wrist while cranking outside.

It worked great, but after talking to my first real users, the #1 request was clear: "I don't have a smartwatch. Can I just use a second device?"

So I spent the last few weeks completely rewriting the networking logic. I added a Second Screen Feature: The main phone now generates a QR code. You scan it with any tablet or phone, and it creates a custom local socket server bridge to stream the leveling data to the browser in real-time. It runs 100% offline (because campsite Wi-Fi is notoriously awful).

The Ask: With this major update finally live, I decided today is the day to do my official Product Hunt Launch!

Launching as a solo dev is incredibly nerve-wracking. Since this community knows exactly what it takes to iterate and ship, I would absolutely love your feedback on my launch! Does the messaging on my PH page make sense?

vor kurzem hatte ich hier meine App zum Wohnwagen-Ausrichten vorgestellt und euer Feedback war einfach überwältigend (danke nochmal für den genialen Austausch!).

Zwei Kritikpunkte kamen danach immer wieder auf:

1. "Ich fahre ein Wohnmobil, keinen Wohnwagen – passt das trotzdem?"
2. "Coole Idee mit der Smartwatch, aber ich habe keine Uhr. Kann ich kein Tablet oder Zweithandy als Zweitdisplay nutzen?"

Ich habe mir das zu Herzen genommen und versucht bestmöglich umzusetzen. Das Ergebnis ist seit heute im Store und ich wollte euch zeigen, was daraus geworden ist:

• Aus "Caravan" wird "Camping Assistent": Die App wurde komplett auf Wohnmobile erweitert. Die Berechnung der Längs- und Querachse funktioniert jetzt für beide Fahrzeugtypen.
• Das "Zweitdisplay-Feature" (Echtes WLAN-Streaming): Wer keine Smartwatch hat, kann jetzt einfach ein Tablet oder ein zweites Handy nutzen. Ob Android oder Apple ist dabei egal. Die App generiert einen lokalen QR-Code. Einscannen, und die Neigungsdaten werden in Echtzeit komplett ohne Internet (weil Campingplatz-WLAN bekanntlich oft eine Katastrophe ist) lokal über die Gerätekamera auf den Browser des Tablets gestreamt. Perfekt für das Dashboard beim Auffahren auf die Keile!

Da mir Fairness extrem wichtig ist, bleibt alles beim Alten: Einmalig 4,99 €, kein Abo-Quatsch, keine Werbung, kein Tracking.

I'm a solo developer and I often ran into a specific problem during DIY projects: I needed to level a washing machine, a shelf, or my camper, but my phone was lying flat on the object, making it impossible to read the display while adjusting the screws underneath.

That's why I built Measure Assistant. You simply place your phone on the object you want to measure, and open the companion app on your Wear OS watch. It synchronizes the data in real-time!

Watch Features:

• Live Leveler: See the exact degrees for both the Bullseye (360°) and Tubular level directly on your wrist.
• Decibel Meter: Live dB noise monitoring mirrored from your phone's microphone.

The red highlighted line is movable so you can measure objects. Currently, I've set it up so that the indicated point is the lowest possible position. Below that, it is blocked. Some users have already complained that the ruler is not fully usable because of this.

I could make the slider movable all the way to the bottom, but then it would overlap with the bottom icons...

What would you recommend? Is function more important than design?

Hi everyone, I’m Marco and I recently released my second app! It’s a privacy-first utility app that collects zero data and has absolutely no ads.

It includes a bubble level, a ruler (which you can precisely calibrate using any standard credit or ID card), an AR protractor, an AR plumb bob, and a decibel meter.

The bubble level and the ruler are completely free to use.

The best feature, in my opinion, is the smartwatch integration. For example, you can place your phone on top of your washing machine and check if it’s perfectly leveled right from your wrist, while you use both hands to adjust the feet at the bottom.

This live sync feature is part of the Pro version, which is a one-time purchase of $3.99 – absolutely no subscriptions!
