Why would anyone be surprised that Senator Cassidy ultimately voted to confirm RFK's nomination?

This got alluded to on this week's show. Cassidy's a Republican. They're in a fucking cult at this point. They support Trump because they're trying to keep as much power as they can, and they're scared shitless that Trump will turn the MAGAts loose on them if they don't tow the line

Love the show, but, Good Lord; when someone on the panel goes into this "I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING???!???" confusion when Republicans, who've made politicizing science and health a core plank in their platform, do what they've been doing for the last several decades?

It's like "How is this some unknowable mystery to you folks? Did you honestly think a Republican Senator in a deep red state was not going to vote for a guy who is an anti-vaxxer?"

And, no, Cassidy doesn't get credit for badmouthing RFK now. He had the chance to sink this two years ago, and chose party and power over public safety.

[US] Supposed InComm InCentives unclaimed property

Hey, all,

Last month, my wife received a letter allegedly from InComm InCentives saying she has unclaimed property in the form of $100 that was issued several years ago.

She's supposed to check off one of the boxes on the letter saying whether she's entitled to the award or if it has already been claimed and mail it back.

According to the letter, if we don't reply by August 14, responses "will be handled as unclaimed property and reported to the appropriate jurisdiction based upon individual state regulations."

While InComm does appear to be a legit company based out of Atlanta and Houston, the logo at the top of the letter looks like it was printed off of someone's home inkjet printer.

There are two serial numbers supposedly associated with the award. The www site supplied rejects both of them when input with the award amount. The site is not asking for any other info, and I'm behind Apple's iCloud VPN, for whatever that's worth.

I did dig up the phone number for the Houston office/call center and the rep we spoke with got the same result. She asked for my wife's email address so another department could get back to her, but we balked at that for the time being. The only other info they wanted was our mailing address, which I'm assuming they have (if this is legit) since we got the letter in the first place.

Anyone run into anything like this with InComm before? We're not being asked to any fee upfront or Social Security #s, but the cheesy print job on the logo and the quasi "Act now" call to action is making us a tad suspicious. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Experiences on NJT buses using Tap & Ride with phone or watch

Hey, all,

It's been a few years since I've used a NJT bus; pre-Tap & Ride, at any rate. Gonna be using my local route the next few days while the car's in the shop.

In the past, I'd buy the ticket on the app and just show the driver my phone. I'd prefer to just use my watch to pay as I get on board, like I do on the subway, rather than pay on the app.

I've been reading that the on-board validators are very hit-or-miss when it comes to actually working. Has anyone used their phone/watch successfully to pay the fare, or should I stick with buying the tickets on the app?
