Baltimore City Flip, Flipping Out

I purchased a home and planned to flip it. This is how I purchased the home everything done transparently. Today BGE said they want to inspect the house. Has anyone else done real estate investment in Baltimore and had BGE request to inspect the home? Permits were pulled and we have our requirements from the city in writing in signed.

Buyback Email Confusion

I submitted my buyback reconsideration request on 08/05/26 after making my payment for August. I received a confirmation email but didn’t see anything noted in my FSA account. I filed for general forbearance with Mohela to freeze my payments. I called Mohela and FSA to verify my employment, payments, and eligible forbearance months for buyback.

Today I received two email backdated. One dated for August 17 providing me with a buyback case number and a second dated August 19 with instructions on how to request a buyback and what information I should review before submitting, and that if I receive a buyback offer I have to issue a payment within 90 days. It seems the system glitched and just delivered these emails today.

For others who filed for buyback reconsideration, when did you receive these emails?

Buyback Forbearance

For those using general forbearance while waiting for buyback, what option did you choose? Should I choose “other” and type that I have 120 months of certified employment with qualified employers and am waiting review for my buyback request?

Special Education and Middle School Check-In

Hello,
I am writing gauge people’s experiences with two environments in Columbia. The first is special education at the elementary level and the latter is middle school special education.

I’ve spoken to many families who do not have children who receive support from special education and for middle school I’ve heard that the education is almost 100% digital for middle school, indicating no textbooks, and teachers do not communicate with parents and there is no expectation from many administrators for them to communicate which places inappropriate amounts of responsibility on 6th graders who aren’t typically mature enough manage that level of responsibility even without having special education needs. They’ve reported removing their children to private or homeschool.

For elementary schools, I have not heard of any mentions of schools that parents would recommend. Many are under-resourced and underpaid and are struggling to survive. This leaves the children and families vulnerable to the public education system.

With the current climate of the US Department of Education and special education being undermined, receiving input to gauge the experience of other families is proving to be invaluable.

How to Request Buy Back Forbearance?

I have had more than 120 months of certified qualified employment if the SAVE months are counted and 2 other months I was placed in forbearance for during 2024. I did a thorough review of my account and found months I was in forbearance that I had certified employment for. I wish I had done this earlier because I could have filed for buyback in April instead of paying through July. I filed a reconsideration request but could not enter a comment. There also was no option for me to choose administrative forbearance while the review occurred.

Did I miss a step?

To wait or not to wait: Buyback on back order

With my August payment I will achieved 102 months of eligible employment and 102 payments. I was in SAVE forbearance for 18 months. I am debating requesting buyback and attempting to wait for 18 months or more. I’ve never taken hardship forbearance and have been with the same employer.

My payments jumped from $300 with SAVE to over $1,000 with IDR. I’m using cash advances on my CC to pay the difference. My plan was to do a balance transfer to a 0% APR with a travel reward CC to lick my wounds. I could then use that card to pay down my balance. Requesting buyback would give me reprieve and time to plan for the buyback offer when it comes.

Would you file for buyback and continue making payments know that most people are saying the government waited them out 18 months to force them to pay or just suffer to get rid of them?

Employer Certification Delayed. Taking screenshots and printing history

Before the change in administrations I took screenshots and printed all of my updates for qualifying payments. I submitted an employer certification on 7/7 and it was still pending yesterday. I went in on 7/15 and erased the email and re-entered it. Today I deleted the request from 7/7 and submitted a new electronic request. If not signed by the end of the month I will wait until my final payment in August and do it manually.

The last time the website was having these challenges something was about to change and it was the changes with the SAVE forbearance.

Anyone else with ideas or information about why this may be happening?

Another career schedule list rumored to be pending for release in September

https://www.govexec.com/workforce/2026/07/more-50-dem-lawmakers-demand-more-schedule-f-transparency/414800/

“The lawmakers’ letter comes as, despite the White House’s claims to the contrary last month, agencies may be prepping for a second round of reclassifications in Schedule Policy/Career. Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor told Bloomberg Law in an interview last week that a new round could focus on GS-13 and GS-14 posts, and NOTUS reported a new list of jobs could be sent to the White House for conversion by the end of September.
“This policy change opens the door for corruption and inefficiency in government, the likes of which we have not seen since before passage of the Pendleton Act [in 1883],” the lawmakers wrote. “When the people tasked with carrying out the law can be fired for telling the truth, waste goes unreported and bad actors go unchecked, it’s the American people who will suffer as a result.”

When to Apply for Buyback?

In August I will hit 102 payments and will have been employed with an eligible employer for more than 120 months. The SAVE forbearance was 18 months for me. I plan to apply for buyback in September after my 102 payment clears.

For those that have applied for buyback, do you apply for buyback and then forgiveness or both simultaneously?
