Need some insights

Hello everyone,

I come from a PCM background and had taken a drop year to prepare for entrance exams. Things honestly didn’t turn out the way I had hoped, though I still have BITSAT left and I’m going to give it my best.

At the moment, I might get Mechanical Engineering at a tier-2 state college, and since BITSAT is quite unpredictable, I’m keeping my options open

The reason I’m making this post is because I’ve developed a genuine interest in finance. Irrespective of whichever college or branch I end up with, I still want to build a career in the finance domain.

I’ll most likely be pursuing a B.Tech because my family prefers that route, and personally too, I don’t wish to switch degrees. What I really want to understand is how I can explore and pursue finance alongside engineering.

I’m particularly interested in areas like taxation, law, economics, and finance in general. I was even considering preparing for CFA in the future, but I’m still very new to all of this and trying to understand the right path.

It would mean a lot if someone could offer some honest and practical guidance on:

  1. how to start learning finance during B.Tech,

2)what skills or certifications actually matter,

3)how engineering students break into finance roles and whether CFA is a good option in my situation.

A humble and genuine piece of guidance would be appreciated☺️
