How to avoid kids in October

Just wondering if there are any resorts you can recommend in Nusa Dua that feel private and without children screaming and running around everywhere? Anywhere that feels more adult and like a relaxing get away than a theme park for parents to keep their kids entertained while they turn a blind eye to them screaming and running around?

Where are we buying cocktail dresses?

Hello, I have a wedding coming up in Bali to attend and I can not for the life of me find nice cocktail dresses that don’t have weird cutouts and shapes at the neckline, aren’t super short, or aren’t maxi.

There are also so many bland pastel colours or just black and navy.

A lot of the fabrics just look strange or poor quality. I swear I’ve looked at every cocktail dress listed at david Jones and the Iconic and being 177cm tall and about 65kg I swear lots are really short or built for women with a straight up and down body type.

But also - they’re all just so uninspiring and meh or don’t make sense. Mini dresses with one long sleeve. Knee length covered in sequins. Wrap dresses with daggy prints. Cheap looking material.

I’m 40 I don’t want to pay a fortune but am happy to spend an average amount - and I know the websites i mentioned aren’t the best but I genuinely don’t shop much, live in trackies and would like a lovely cocktail dresses suitable for a beach wedding.

Please share your tips! I tend to go for v-neck something that doesn’t cut me off at the neckline. I don’t mind sleeveless/ straps or sleeves open to all. It will be HOT. I also don’t mind maxi dresses as long as it fits the cocktail code not too formal

Is there anything I can do to reduce noise through a shared wall

I own a home that has shared walls. It’s on its own title no body corp but still some shared walls. I can hear footsteps and doors, vacuum cleaner and sometimes bass if they play music loud enough. My question is if there is anything I can do now to retrofit it or fix it to improve sound proofing between the houses? I couldn’t afford a stand alone house so a house on its own title seemed next best option. I have come from an awful housing situation with neighbours so awful I had to move so am very sensitive to noise. Thank you for your help. Please be kind and give clear explanations I don’t know how to diy or renovate myself - I’m I’m in Melbourne and would need to get professionals in to help but wouldn’t know what to look or ask for

Happy to save up for a solution but don’t want something that loooks bad for example sticking tthings on my wall that look like obvious foam

How to turn this into a lush green mossy area with stepping stones

Hello landscapers,

I’m not good at DIY and only have basic knowledge. Just wondering if it’s at all possible to turn this section of my yard into a green mossy area or some other ground cover that isn’t lawn perhaps with some stepping stone pavers. Somewhere green and soft for my dog to lie down and sniff but also low maintenance? Would I need to rip up the existing concrete pavers and is that hard? Should I bring in a professional ?

Did I overreact by ending it

This is all still fresh so sorry for the word vomit but I ended it today after expressing concerns again about the lack of one on one time together and him responding that it’s a difference in energy levels - he repeatedly says he has more energy than me and if I only had more energy to stay up late and do more I wouldn’t find it all so hard. I completely snapped - I felt he was blaming me for all the baggage and complications he comes with and instead of validating that made it my fault for not having more energy.

He has a volatile ex and two young kids in the picture. Not to mention the other ( stable ex) and the older kid he has with her. So three kids and two exes in the picture. One ex seems fine the other is absolutely unhinged to the point of showing up when he has the kids and threatening him.

He’s also 57 to my 40, so an age gap.

He works long and changing hours in hospitality - so we had no weekends together alone as that’s when he has the kids and often weeknights were out too because that’s when he works late in hospo.

He was a threat to my stability I felt , the kind of guy with volatile exes, legal bills for those exes, the kind of guy who thinks it’s okay to run red lights on a Vespa at 2am because no one else is around, the kind of guy who thinks it’s ok to light and leave a bon fire to burn out unattended on the wooden deck of the home I bought and am paying a mortgage on and to mock me for being too safety focussed when I say I’m not leaving a bonfire unattended overnight while I sleep in my backyard.

Of course easy for him to put my house at risk when he isn’t the one who owns it, he rents. I reminded myself that his two youngest, who are old enough to know better, tried to feed chocolate and Lego to my rescue dog. He has many wonderful traits but after all I’ve worked for all I’ve built I got sick of the threats to my stability and being made to be seen as a low energy killjoy when I reacted to those threats.

There’s so much more but I’m hurting at the moment so much
