Anyone else get completely paralyzed by the simplest questions?

"What do you want to eat?"
"What movie should we watch?"
"Do you need anything?"

To normal people, these are just casual questions. But my brain treats them like a trap.

Growing up, having a preference wasn't safe, it was either an inconvenience or an argument waiting to happen. So I learned to dissolve my own opinions and just become whatever was easiest for everyone else.

Now, someone asking what I want feels like sudden pressure on a bruise. My mind goes completely blank and I freeze up, running a internal check to see what answer won't cause any friction.

Is it just me?

Do you dress for yourself or for other people?

I have been thinking about how much of our personal style is actually based on what we like vs what we think looks “good” or gets approval from other people.

Sometimes I will love an outfit until I start thinking whether it’s too basic, too trendy, too much or just not flattering enough.

Do you genuinely wear whatever you like or do things like trends, compliments, or other people’s opinions influence what you wear?

Curious what everyone else thinks.
