Hotel discrimination

I am 41 years old and I am severely disabled. I am in a wheelchair I am morbidly obese and I have a tracheostomy. I spent the last two years in the hospital where I became homeless and I was in a coma for three months and recovering for another eight months and last year I was discharged and left to fend for myself.

I went to an extended stay hotel, and I had problems there. They put me in a dirty room and when I asked for another room, the manager called me nasty and argue with me and said that I’m nasty and I made the room dirty. After a couple weeks of arguing, they agreed to put me in another room, but I don’t think it was for my benefit. They moved me from the front of the hotel to the back where all the drug users and the loitering is. I was robbed. The room was even more offensively dirty, and the mattress was covered in bodily fluid from other guests.

again she told me I was nasty and that she gave me their newest clean room and said that I made it dirty. I tolerate it because I thought it was temporary, but I ended up being there for seven months. I asked her to put me back in the front of the hotel because it is safer there and after a lot of arguments, she agreed to do it, but said that the hotel is at maximum capacity and it will take some time for a room to open. In the meantime, I asked if she can swap the mattress with another room and she said no, it’s impossible. They’re not allowed to move the mattresses around. She said that she would order me a new mattress, but it would take 6 weeks to get there. 6 months went by They were at full capacity, and the mattress was still on the way.

Finally, a guest checked in next to me and the next day they asked for another room and they were moved to the front of the hotel. I realize that the management was lying to me about full capacity and 6 weeks and wanted me to leave. I did nothing wrong. I wasn’t rude to them. I wasn’t argumentative. I was not a disturbance. I was not damaging the property and despite my disabilities and medical conditions i am extremely hygienic. It feels discriminatory because why else did they treat me differently from everyone else?

So I had a nervous breakdown and I went to the hospital for a psych hold several days. I’ve been fighting for my life for the last eight years and my big sister got cancer and died right when I was discharged from the hospital and Im alone now and I can’t fight all these battles. Discrimination are not challenges I should have to overcome to have a clean safe Shelter.

So I decided to leave and I went to another hotel. Everything was in order. I paid and signed. I’m not causing a disturbance. I’m not causing any damage. I’m not asking for any special treatment. I’m hygienic. After a few days, they told me that they are fully booked and that they can’t extend my stay. That I’ll have to leave. But when I try to reserve online and on the phones they have plenty of availability. They want me to leave clearly and they won’t even tell me why they just lie to me which makes me feel like they’re being prejudice and discriminatory and have been since the first day I got here. The way they look at me.

I am in Southern California in a city called Irvine. What am I supposed to do ? There are not a lot of options here. A lot of the affordable hotels are very rundown and extremely filthy, and so I’m trying to stay is slighter higher price range because I need to be somewhere clean because my health is vulnerable.

Can you recommend a good laptop bag?

There are so many out there and they are just not what I’m looking for and it’s making my head hurt to scroll through it all. Please let me know if you can recommend a good one..

Ideally, I would like a bag that looks sophisticated or handsome and doesn’t look cheap or plastic, but it doesn’t need to be like super premium pretentious luxury.

I would like it to have two padded pockets for my MacBook and my iPad, it should have some compartments to store quite a bit of accessories like a brick wall charger that I take around with me everywhere and a slightly large backup mobile battery. Various cables. A journal and pen. 2 cell phones. Headphones. It should have some space, but I don’t want it to feel like a piece of carry on luggage where it’s so big with a ton of zippers.

I like bags that are in a messenger bag or briefcase style with a cross body strap with easy access, so things like buckles and straps are burdensome. I prefer a zipper enclosure that way. I know that every little piece secure and it’s not gonna fall out.

How much to tip?

I DoorDash everyday because I’m disabled and rely completely on deliveries. I usually tip $4 on most meals $30-$60 that are within 5 miles, , tip $2-3 if it is super small and close by like a $20 order from the 7-11 across the streets or Starbucks, and sometimes up to $8-10 on grocery orders that are a little large or if they are driving over 4-5 miles.

I never got any complaints. I want to know as a driver are you happy to see these tips? Just ok with it? Or frustrated it isn’t more? I live in Southern California, by the way

▲ 3 r/Debt

I abandoned various cards

Long story short I became very ill for a very long time, and I eventually became homeless and started living in hospitals and I went into a coma for three months and spent the last year in the hospital. I don’t even know what happened to my credit cards, but I get phone calls every day some people who ask for me by name followed by this is a recorded line and I hang up without saying a word.

I live in California and now I am on disability, which doesn’t even cover enough to get Housing. I have no ability to pay back anything I had maybe six lines of credit all under $2000 each but I think total debt is around eight to $12,000 spread across multiple cards and lenders. My biggest fear now is that they will sue me and they will garnish my puny disability. I’m severely disabled and struggling to survive.

If they have no address to send mail to and can’t reach me on the phone can they still sue me? What can I do to protect myself? I mean they will survive, I won’t

I’ve been staying at an extended stay hotel for the last five or six months so I’m basically a tenant now. There has been issues there the carpet is filthy and black with stains if you touch it your finger turns black. The mattress is heavily soiled and smells like death. Im in a situation I was discharged from hospital and i’m severely disabled and I’m having to lay on that mattress nearly 24 hours day and I can’t just get up and go somewhere else

the manager says that they have the room professional cleaned and that I made that filter overnight so keep telling me that I’m nasty. Tell me about the right facility for me because I am disabled now has threatened to give me notice to leave because I asked her to fix the air-conditioning. I’m having trouble waiting Manager they’re gonna look into it then they don’t do anything so that they ordered a new mattress but that’s gonna take 14 weeks to get here and I’ve been living on this bed for like five months now.

Am I allowed to withhold Rent until they fix this issue? Or what can I do legally? Location: southern California. Irvine
