There Should be Better Posting Standards.

I think the post etiquette on makerworld is honestly quite poor. In my opinion there's only 3 things that should be included in the photos of a post.

- a full 360 of the STL I'm going to download

- a full 360 of the item printed (listing machine+filament used)

- and then, ONLY THEN, a 360 of the printed item with any touch ups, paint jobs, ect.

Obviously if it's a functional part seeing it in action via gif helps too.

What I DO NOT think should ever be included is:

-these ai "touch up" photos

-ai "renderings" of what the item "could" look like

- ai fake backdrops

-anything that doesn't show the actual GD model, the STL or printed.

All these things are useless to the process of printing the model and are blatantly dishonest as to what the actual item will or can be. These items are meant to actually be printed and used in the real world, and it's a huge waste of time and resources when the advertising of the item does not match the item itself.

I would go so far as to say any post that does these bottom things should qualify to have their posts taken down.

Note that I'm not saying anything about STLs that are AI generated. I'm specifically talking about images that do not match the actual items being posted.

Silly Petition to Change Dungeon Crawler Carl Acronym

I know this is like the least important issue in the world right now, but I personally think it's important (slightly) to point out the DCC acronym is already being used by Dungeon Crawl Classics, an established game in the TTRPG space. Using a different short hand could prevent metaphorically stepping on the toes of another subsect of the TTRPG community, for things like popping up in search engines, ect.

Just a small way to say everyone wants to play nice with one another. I'm personally probably going to refer to it as Carlrpg to avoid confusion.

Where can I find the honest-to-goodness model makers?

I love printing minis but I'm terrible at sourcing files and in this age of AI sludge it's getting harder to parse through to find the good stuff.

So, who do you all think makes the best models for FDM printing? I would prefer creators on Makerworld, but if there's lone maverick spinning out top notch stls on a website somewhere else I'll be willing to make the digital trek.

Please, share where you all get your favorite files completely human made, of course) 'cause I'm currently on the hunt for some.

Many thanks!

All 18 Floors for the TTRPG

I know they've still got a week left on the campaign, butI'm hoping with the success on backerkit, this allows renegade games the ability to release supplement rule books in the future, considering the starter set and core rulebooks only cover the 1st 5 floors, which only really covers 4 books out of a projected 10 book series and there's so much crunch still left on the table.

One thing that makes a great ttrpg is its longevity, and Dungeon Crawler Carl's TTRPG has a lot of potential when exploring the other floors, like settlement ruling rules, mass combat rules, and of course the class upgrades you get on various levels, not to mention the settings themselves.

Themed floors like floor 6 might even justify their own rulebook considering how much setting and new game design they cover.

I'm unfamiliar with a lot of Renegade's work, but my fingers are crossed they go really ambitious with this game, as I'm really excited by it's potential.

My favorite TTRPGs are D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder 1e. I've never read anything or played any kind of VTM game ever until now, but I've just bought a copy of both the v20 and v5 core rule books to dive into the game. My closest reference is probably Call of a Cthulhu

What advice would you give me as I parse through both versions to find what I like?

I've read a little of both and my only opinion so far is it seems much harder to differentiate the actual rules from flavor text in v5, but both books put a lot (like a lot) of setting, ect before actually getting to the rules of the game.
