Recently our community has been the subject of several posts in which the OP relays a tale of woe and implies a need for financial help (e.g. can’t afford rent, school supplies for kids, food etc.). Often these posts didn’t ask for legal advice but rather sympathy.

It has been brought to our attention by the wonderful community of other subreddit mods that the same individual has been targeting their subreddits trying to solicit DMs and donations, and that the bank account details match those of a convicted fraud.

The accounts were banned and some were deleted altogether but one surfaced this evening, so it’s evident that this individual is creating new accounts to evade bans.

Some PSA info for you all:
- if you see a post matching this description please report it ASAP
- if you see users potentially falling for the scam in the comments please reply advising them to exercise caution
- An Garda Síochana have been alerted to this individual and the same will happen to any account that attempts a donation scam here
- be on the look out for family law posts in particular where there is mention of living in Kildare and involves a description of financial hardship (common theme in this person’s posts)
