Naa poruki ila boodham 🤡

I still don't understand why they made a sequel to Saamy. But somehow, this shit gives me rewatchable vibes. Enna solrathu, enake theriyala. 😭

The movie is filled with so many logic issues. They replaced Trisha's character with Aishwarya Rajesh, even though the first part happened in the 2000s. The film itself was released in 2018, so the whole 20-year timeline doesn't make much sense. The way the civil services exam is shown is another thing—something that's actually difficult is portrayed as if it can be cracked so easily. And then there's the whole "mail to the President" scene.

The villain's second wife's son coming back for revenge is another predictable revenge track. Whatever happens in this movie, it somehow ends up being perfect material for roasting and trolling.

Honestly, I know this movie is a mess, but for some reason, I can completely hate it. I don't know why, but it still has that weird "watchable" feeling for me.

And it's not just Saamy 2—there are quite a few disastrous films that somehow give me the urge to rewatch them. Maybe that's a different kind of guilty pleasure. 😭

What’s the issue with this rude auto driver?

I don’t understand. I had just booked a Rapido bike from Thiruvanmiyur to Anna Library. When I got down, an auto driver asked me, Why are you using Rapido bikes? Why don’t you use an auto?

I simply asked him, Why can’t you drivers use the meter? He suddenly started shouting at me. I didn’t care and just put on my headphones, listened to music, and walked inside the library.

I have no idea what words he was saying after that, and honestly, I didn’t care either. 😌🎧

From Kolapakkam to Porur Junction, we booked a Rapido auto for 3 people.

The app showed the fare as ₹92, so we decided to give the auto driver ₹100.

But after reaching the drop location, the auto driver suddenly asked us to pay ₹120.

I was like, What the fuck? 😭

It was only around 3 km, and the app fare was ₹92. So I asked him why he was charging an extra ₹28.

He said the app fare shown was for 2 passengers only, and since we were 3 people, the extra passenger charge was added.

At that moment, we were in a hurry because we had to catch Bus 25, which was already coming. So we quickly got down from the auto and didn't have time to argue or think much about the extra charge.

Later, I realised:

₹92 app fare → ₹120 charged → ₹28 extra just because of the third passenger. 💀

The worst part is that the extra charge was for the additional person, but this wasn't something we properly noticed before boarding.

Kolapakkam → Porur Junction: 3 km

App fare: ₹92

Expected: ₹100

Final: ₹120

Reason: Third passenger = extra charge 🤦‍♂️

The YouTube vs Box Office Mystery

A movie flopped so badly that many people didn't even know when it released or when it disappeared from theatres.

But the moment you open YouTube, it's sitting there with millions of views.

Then you scroll through the comments...

Masterpiece. Underrated gem. Peak Tamil cinema. Ahead of its time.

At this point, I don't know whether the movie was a flop... or if the comment section watched a completely different film.

Which movie comes to your mind?

A Clever Remake Reference Hidden in Shakti (2011)

There's a funny scene where Ileana tries to watch the first-day first show of Wanted using a black-market ticket, while NTR's character gets into a fight over the tickets. The meta reference is that Ileana was the heroine in the original Pokiri, which Wanted is a remake of. Adding to the irony, director Meher Ramesh had also worked on Pokiri, making the scene a clever self-referential remake nod.

Why Old Sun TV Movie Telecasts Looked Different

While scrolling through Reels, I came across this movie promo. The color grading instantly caught my attention—it looks completely different from the version we see today.

Before Sun TV switched to HD, most movies were telecast in SD format, and many had a distinct color grading and broadcast look. Today, most of those same movies have been remastered for HD, with updated colors, contrast, and clarity.

That old SD-era Sun TV color grading had its own nostalgic charm. 📺✨

My thoughts on Trisha whenever I see posts about her now

I know there are many people in this sub who dislike Trisha, but I honestly don't understand hating her just because of Vijay.

If you dislike Vijay, that's a separate discussion. But why should Trisha be mocked every time she appears in a movie-related post? Whenever I come across a random post about her, the comments are filled with Vijay edits, GIFs, and relationship jokes. During the Karuppu release too, I saw the same thing. It has reached a point where discussions about her films are immediately diverted to Vijay because that time he becomes CM.

I don't care about her off-screen life or her alleged relationship with Vijay. That's their personal matter, and unless it affects the public directly, I don't think it's worth discussing in every single post.

If people want to criticize her, there are actual reasons to do so. In my opinion, her biggest issues have been inconsistent script selection and average performances in several films. Apart from Ponniyin Selvan, I haven't found many recent performances that impressed me.

Yes, I also remember the controversy around the Jallikattu protests, and people are free to criticize public statements or actions. But constantly mocking her because of an alleged relationship is pointless.

Another thing that has always disappointed me is that she's a native Tamil actress, yet she has rarely dubbed for herself in Tamil films. That's a valid criticism related to her work.

Vijay also made mistakes, especially now that he's a political figure, then people should question him directly. Public figures should be held accountable for their own actions. Dragging Trisha into every discussion about Vijay doesn't make sense.

At the end of the day, if a Trisha movie is releasing, discuss the movie. Praise it if it's good, criticize it if it's bad. Judge her acting, script choices, and performances—not her personal life.

That's just my opinion. I know some people will disagree or mock this take, but I'd rather criticize an artist for their work than for rumors or relationships.

Why does Puri Jagannadh use this trope so often?

I've noticed a recurring pattern in many of Puri Jagannadh's films where the protagonist either loses their parents or grows up with a broken family. It almost feels like one of his signature storytelling tropes.

Some examples:

  • Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi – Hero's mother dies.
  • Sivamani – Hero's mother suffers throughout the film.
  • Andhrawala – Hero's parents are killed by the villains.
  • Pokiri – Hero's father is killed by the villain.
  • Chirutha – Hero's father is killed, his mother suffers, and the hero grows up believing she's dead before later discovering she's alive.
  • Bujjigadu – Hero leaves home as a child, leading to his family breaking apart and his father becoming an alcoholic.
  • Neninthe – Hero's mother dies.
  • Ek Niranjan – Hero is separated from his parents in childhood and grows up as an orphan.
  • Golimaar – Hero is an orphan.
  • Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu – Hero's mother struggles and suffers.
  • Iddarammayilatho, Businessman – Hero and heroine parents are murdered by the antagonist
  • Temper – Hero is an orphan.

Is it a deliberate writing choice to create emotionally detached, self-made protagonists with nothing to lose? Or is it simply an easy way to give the hero emotional motivation and freedom from family responsibilities?

Has Puri ever spoken in interviews about why broken families, dead parents, or suffering mothers appear so frequently in his films? Or is this just a coincidence?
