Paint list for new models

I’m relatively new to the hobby and painting. I mostly have army painter paints and have been working on trench crusade models. I’m planning on getting the new ogor models but don’t know what paints that would help me get some of the colors in the new models, like the bronze look in the outer gut plates or the new maul beasts skin. So what are some paints to get to get those colors or other ones I might need for ogors?

Favorite Vampires?

Just a simple question, who is everyone’s favorite vampire in AOS? Not just on the table top but their story/lore too.

Radukar/Vhordrai might be tied for top for me. Radukar being unique mixing werewolf aspects and having a hulking out mode with the beast version. Then Vhordrai taking the classic position of riding an undead dragon will always be cool. Radukar being one of the arguably most successful/dangerous non-mortarch/dynasty head makes him interesting as well. Then Vhordrai’s betray of nagash and hints at a possible second with keeps him interesting

Small Vhordrai Conversion

Just had a thought for a small conversion for Vhordrai because while the lance is cool I really would love to see him with a sword in hand but I wasn’t sure if the blood knights kit match his well enough to be a replacement or if a different kit fit better.

Thanks for any advice!

Future units

What are people wanting for future units for the Helsmiths?

While small the roster is decently rounded but I think some fun additions could be these:

  • a re-envisioned Lamassu. I think it could go one of 2 ways. One could be the hasutite equivalent of a daemon prince but different in a few fundamental ways like while mutated they are still mortal and function closer to a mortal avatar elevated from the daemonsmiths or ashen elders than a daemon and is viewed as a great honor but essentially it forfeits the elevated individuality for power and is seen as the only real escape form the stone curse. Rules wise I’d make it a slightly stronger daemonsmith/ashen elder maybe a two cast monstrous infantry. The other could be a flying melee war machine with maybe a special rule against enemy casters. I get the avatar version might be controversial but I like the idea of Hashut being able too do this but purposefully doesn’t give the full benefits because he doesn’t want to make rivals for the dwarfs to venerate or he doesn’t fully understand how to since he’s not a true chaos god and is instead a fallen ancestor god. Then for their place in society I’m less sure on perhaps as oracles only called upon as a direct conduit to Hashut or maybe like the avatar of khaine from 40k that some great sacrifice is required to bring them out of whatever daemonsmithing they are doing

  • a bull centaur character would be great along with a generic bull centaur and anointed variant. For the named character perhaps a named anointed lord that buffs them specifically. I don’t think we need other full on units though for bull centaurs

  • a truly elite heavy infantry variant maybe 5 models who are chosen guardians to the ashen elders/daemonsmiths with a special rule to take hits for those models with another that they have a chance to give them a demonic power point with the rule being the daemonsmiths using the soul of the dead dwarf to siphon demonic power as punishment for dying.

  • final idea is perhaps bringing back the daemon train from fantasy in a fashion, though its roll outside of being a gun platform I don’t know

something I’m not particularly interested in is more hobgrots outside of maybe wolf riders and while more slave troops could be fun if really like to see more zharrdron and daemon engines first.

What do yall think/what other units would you really like to see?

First list help

Making a list for casual games before buying any models and was considering bringing a lot of dameonsmiths because they are really what I think of when I think chaos dwarves. Though when working on the list I can’t tell if I should shift my focus to any unit in particular (such as dropping hobgrots for more bullcentaurs or getting more infernal cohorts) and I am planning to get 2 spear heads so that is influencing the build slightly. The general idea for the list is the hobgrots and dominators in the center with the bombards behind them then the cohorts and centaurs on the flanks with their respective heroes depending on how the other player deploys:

Test (1940 points) - ✦ General's Handbook 2025-26

Helsmiths of Hashut Daemonsmith Cabal Prayer Lore - Prayers of the Scorched Sect Spell Lore - Lore of Infernal Power

General's Regiment Urak Taar, the First Daemonsmith (340) • General Infernal Cohort with Hashutite Spears (100) Infernal Cohort with Hashutite Spears (100)

Regiment 1 Daemonsmith (100) Hobgrot Vandalz (140) • Reinforced Dominator Engine with Bane Maces (160) Dominator Engine with Bane Maces (160)

Regiment 2 Daemonsmith (100) Tormentor Bombard (130) Tormentor Bombard (130)

Regiment 3 Daemonsmith on Infernal Taurus (290) Bull Centaurs (190)

Edit: just realized I would like to get an ashen elder in there but not sure who to trade out for them

Magic heavy list

Going to start collecting soon and was curious as to what would be a good supporting units if I was wanting to lean into having a couple daemonsmiths (on foot and on Taurus) and maybe urak tar? Outside of picking up 1-2 spearhead boxes and the daemonsmiths I’m not sure how to build to get it to synergies to work.

Gelgus and Sloven knights

Hey I really like both these models but I’m new to the faction. Are there any builds or strategies that include both of these models? Generally was thinking of leaning mortal heavy for the list but outside of that haven’t been sure where to start.
