I’m staring the 250 boxes challenge. Wish me luck

This is your sign to start drawing those damn boxes. You can see on my sketchbook how I would struggle with them. Never bothered with them, until I realized that because I can’t draw them, I also can’t draw gestures accurately.

Valravn concept painting - by me

I finally finished my first big painting in CPS. I’ve never done concept paintings before. I’m a beginner so I still have a lot to improve with my rendering.

I did a random sketch yesterday and turned it into a concept painting on Valravn (kind of, it’s more of a horse skull). I’m new to digital painting (and painting at all). I haven’t really painted concept art ever, so I’m still learning/ studying. Thought? It’s still a WIP, I think I have another 8-10 hours of painting left. I’m still scraping through ideas of what can I add more.

I finally got my screen tablet and I put it to the test. I think I was struggling badly with the screenless one because now I feel like I can finally draw like I’m used to. This is a personal project I’ve started today. Still a WIP, but hope you like it.

This is my first OC. I named her Isami. I know the rendering is not perfect, but I’ve had comments on other subs saying she looked basic and overly sexualized... or that they want to see cartoony characters and they end up seeing revealing characters like mine (although I checked the NSFW tag so nobody is forced to take a look at my painting if they don’t want to). I mean it might be true, but it felt disheartening to the point I deleted the posts on those subs and deleted the painting from all platforms I’ve had posted on. I know the rendering is lacking, especially around the legs, and the pose/ anatomy is a bit awkward, but I’m still in process of learning gestures and getting anatomy figured out.

I’m not asking for validation, but I decided to just post on here to ask for feedback again, maybe I’m too sensitive and can’t take criticism. I’m new to digital painting and I worked really hard on her.

I think I finally started to understand gestures and proportions. Just an hour ago I was struggling very badly with legs when practicing in sketchbook. Went ahead on Krita and traced over one reference just enough to get the feeling of how things should come together, then started free handing from multiple references. I feel like the sketches are getting a bit better now. Still looking a bit stiff, but not as stiff as just an hour ago. Constructive criticism is welcomed!
