Securing chicken run before vacation
We leave Mon for a trip to the beach for five nights. We have a chicken coop within an electric fence. Normally we let the girls out of the coop early in the morning and put them up right before dark and they just run around their 600 sq ft run during the day. Husband wanted rig up a larger, completely enclosed space for them before we left, instead of finding someone to come over morning and night to let them out/put them up. Their coop isn't large enough to leave them closed up in while we're gone so he wanted to move them into a 100 sq foot dog pen just for the time we're gone. It's a chain link pen and I told him to get .5" hardware cloth to run over it and put an apron around the bottom. He waited until the last minute and now there's no hardware cloth in in stock anywhere near us. There's steel chicken wire we can get but I'd always heard that wasn't actually strong enough to secure them. But would the chicken wire work over a chain link fence that would also be within a four foot electric fence? We're in NC.
TLDR is steel chicken wire over a chain link dog pen that is within a four foot electric fence going to be enough security for my girls to be left a lone in for five night?
