okay I own a EOS Rebel T3 I've had for 15 years I got in high school and loved taking pictures at the time. I honestly haven't picked it up in 8 years and now have a baby I want to be able to take pictures of.

*think casual pumpkin patch, christmas morning, birthdays so a combination of inside/outside & individual close ups of him as well as group shots.

I have the 18-55mm lens it came with but I'm not thrilled with it? Would I enjoy the camera more if I upgraded to another lense? Thinking Canon EF 50mm f1.8STM or Sigma 17-60mm f2.8. Willing to spend up to $500 ish.

Also if you have any learning recommendations in terms of lighting/settings/editing please send them my way!!
