School curriculum - tipping culture?!

We just recieved the school reports for our kids. They are, frankly, bollocks.

My rant. The reports have recommended actions we should help with at home. And while many are just insulting, the math one got my heckles up. Why the f*** does the NZ primary school curriculum encourage a tipping culture?

I actually agree with the need to update the curriculum, but the execution of these changes just seems rushed and poorly thought through.

Edit: discussion on the radio right now (9.20am 26 Jan). This smart tool reporting project cost $85mil of tax payer money, and this tool is from an Australian company. The govt seemed very proud of that fact the tool suggests recommendations for parents at home to help learning - but the quality of these recommendations hasn't yet been discussed in the interview.

Dyptic interaction - Cat show

Back home and thought I'd play with the dyptic mode to see if I could create a feeling of interaction between the two photos.

What better place to try than the local cat show.

1 hour in Denmark

Had a short walk tonight once the day cooled down. Just messing about to stretch the legs and explore.

Xhalf dyprics

I know this camera gets some flak online, but I have to say that I think it's the perfect camera to travel with when tight on space. It's creative modes make you pay attention to the world around more than most of the camera I own

B&W dyptics

B&W dyptics.

Posted another for the weekly challenge (which I prefer) but thought I'd share these as well.

I love dyptic with a common alignment element (horizon, lines, features, etc). I use the frame lines (and flicking to the preview) to try and line things up.

Also, if you didn't know, you can go into playback and pull the dyptic lever to make a dyptic of any existing photo. It's a handy feature.

Challenge #3: The Half Frame Itself - Cycle Corner, Poland.

This was a fun one to take! The first photo (right) was taken shot from the hip looking one direction on a street corner, the second photo (left) is of a statue, taken looking a different direction. Same corner looking different ways.
