Looking for a platform to buy shares, i have heard many negative reviews regarding k trade(their customer service and app) so please suggest platforms/best broker to start with.

My father bought shares of a sugar mill back in the 1990s. Unfortunately, over the years, the original share certificates/documents were lost.
We’ve now started the process of getting duplicate share certificates issued. Corplink has asked us to publish a newspaper advertisement and complete some other formalities before they can issue duplicates.
Is there any other way to prove ownership besides the old physical certificates?
