Oticon vs phonak

Oticon vs phonak

This is my audiogram, I saw an audiologist on Friday that DOR referred me to. She recommended Oticon intent 1 or 3. I work as a secretary so I handle a lot of calls, so it’s important to stream my desk calls to my hearing aids. I don’t think I would like having to reach for my ear each time I need to answer a call which is why I enjoy a smart mic, she mentioned phonak had the universal compatibility, meaning I wouldn’t need the mic. Would you go with Oticon intents or Phonak. Which of the two is a more reliable hearing aid
I am in California

Hearing aids DOR

Today I finally have an apt with my department of rehabs audiology vendor.
I’ve been waiting almost a year for this to finally happen. The DOR knows I need hearing aids, but they don’t know I’ve been wearing my dads hearing aids that weren’t ever used. They were reprogrammed to my hearing exam at Costco.
I was really struggling with hearing as I’ve waited almost a year for this appointment. But I am afraid that telling the clinic that they are vendors to, that I’ve worn my dads, that the dor find out and cancel on purchasing the hearing aids. The hearing aids i do plan on returning them to my dad and they have helped me learn what situations I still struggle with wearing them. So I’d like the clinic know those situations when I see them later so they can help me choose the best fit for me.

Would you all suggest it’s ok to share my experiences with my dads hearing aids fitted to me, or take the appointment on with a clean slate and avoid the risk of my hearing aids not getting funded. I’ve waited since October 2025 for answers and that is my biggest fear

Hearing aids and DOR

How long after receiving a Department of rehab, medical authorization for goods and services (for hearing aids) with your DORs audiology vendor did it take for you to receive hearing aids

I just finally got an authorization to see their audiologist since waiting since October 2025. I’m hopeful things move faster after the authorization

Hearing aids

Im 30 and have been wearing hearing aids for about two months now. I put them on in the morning and by about 7 pm, I’m about done with them and put them on the charger. But sometimes my kids still need things from me and sometimes talk to me from the other room. I remind them to come to me but sometimes I understand they might forget, they’re still getting used to me wearing them.

My question is if there’s anything that exists that will maybe amplify their voice if they’re speaking, to maybe a speaker in my room.

Hearing Aids Rexton

I’ve been wearing Rexton hearing aids for about two months now. No settings have been moved but when I started, at work I could hear the clicking of the clock. But now I don’t, does it mean my brain is just blocking the sound. I recently did a maintenance with my Costco audiologist thinking they were dirty, but I’m still experiencing this

Hearing aid DOR vent suggestions

Update, I saw ENT yesterday and confirmed the need of hearing aids. I had no holes in the ear or cerumen that needed to be flushed. Although, the doctor wasn’t able to complete the form DOR gave me fully because like I told dor, the ent is not a vendor so he can’t give me pricing on a hearing aid or recommendation. So now I’m getting pushback from DOR because they want pricing on the paper and type. Although, it doesn’t make sense to me why they keep pushing it when they had already told me they wouldn’t pay that clinic the hearing aids because they’re not a vendor to them. Which is why I never did my consult with the clinic to start. Now DR, wants me to go back to the clinic and now the clinic says the exam is now too long ago, over 6 months old :/

The dor lady even admitted to me on the phone that they hadn’t done a hearing aid funding in a while so I feel like I’m just getting pushed around. I already exhausted all the things my insurance would cover and feel like I’ve gotten no where with this process due to the DORs lack of knowledge it feels like :/

Hearing Aids through DOR

Has anyone ever gotten their hearing aids funded with the DOR? What was the process? I already gave DOR my hearing examination and they’re asking me to see an ENT. Although I’m unsure where the hearing aids get sourced from if the ENT does not carry hearing aids in their office according to the ENTs office I spoke to today. I am in California and am now going on 8 months of waiting and projecting more considering ents in my area are not available to see with an apt until September

Rexton Smart Mic

My Rexton hearing aids we’re connected to my office desk phone through a Bluetooth dongle. I was able to answer calls with the smart mic, end them and of course hear them through the hearing aids. Although on my lunch, I turned off the smart mic so it wouldn’t die quickly. Then when I came back, I turned it back on, but I was only able to hear the calls through them. To end the call I had to actually push the end button on the desk phone. Could anyone have any reason why that’s happening? I tried turning everything off but the same thing was happening

Would adding a tp link usb 5.4 receiver allow me to pair my laptop to my hearing aids for audio? At the moment, my laptop will come up on the Bluetooth list for pairing but not as an audio device. So when I try to answer a work call on my laptop, people can’t hear me. I can only hear them

For anyone that works from home and works office some days. How do you handle office calls when you’re away? Do they forward directly to the cell phone through the phone providers phone app? The cell phone my work provided, they set it so that my desk calls can go to the cell phone, but when I answer the call they can’t hear me, nor does it make sense for me to have to go to my desktop phone provider app just to transfer a call
