After Owning Maxwell 1, Maxwell 2, and Kithara, the Nova Elite Shocked Me
Pewnie. Przerobiłem to na naturalny angielski w stylu posta na Reddit. Zachowałem Twój entuzjazm, ale brzmi bardziej jak post napisany przez native speakera. Bez długich myślników.
I’ve owned the Audeze Maxwell 1, Audeze Maxwell 2, and the Asus ROG Kithara paired with a Fosi K7 DAC/amp. The Fosi made a massive difference in both sound quality and power.
No matter what I bought, I could never find exactly what I was looking for: great clarity, instrument separation, and impactful bass. I was already saving up for the Hifiman Arya Organic because I couldn’t justify buying them outright.
Up until now, I honestly thought the Maxwell 2 had no real competition in the wireless gaming space. For wired gaming, the Kithara has been my number one.
Still, I kept chasing something better. I fell into that endless upgrade loop where you’re always looking for the next thing.
Then I found the SteelSeries Nova Elite in an outlet for around $400. I ordered them, but after reading more reviews I regretted it within 10 minutes. I even tried to cancel the order, but it was already too late. The store told me they were waiting to be picked up for two days. Every review made them sound overpriced and clearly worse than everything I already owned.
I picked them up just before the package would have been automatically returned by the courier. I figured I’d at least give them a try.
My God… what a surprise.
No, they don’t have quite the same raw power as the Maxwell 2, but they’re much closer than I expected. Close enough that comfort suddenly became a huge factor. If they had sounded like the “trash” everyone described, I would’ve happily gone back to suffering with the heavy Maxwells.
The moment I put them on, I loved them. They’re light, incredibly comfortable, and for a closed-back headset they sound surprisingly clean. The bass is punchy without bleeding into the vocals or instruments. You can push the EQ pretty hard if that’s your thing. They have that same fun, head-bobbing energy with music that I loved about the Kithara.
No, they don’t sound quite as clean as the Kithara, but they’re honestly not that far behind.
I’ll say this honestly: I think a lot of the people hating on these are just bass heads who don’t really know what they’re listening to. These headphones are a hidden gem, but only if you can get them well below MSRP.
At around $400, they’re an absolute steal in my opinion.
I still need to spend more time gaming with them, but for music they’ve completely exceeded my expectations.
I’m writing this while I’m still excited because after reading all the negative reviews, I almost didn’t even give them a chance.
What a surprise.
