How tough was your first 15-20 “CONSISTENT” users

In the phase of realizing building was way easier than user acquisition. Genuinely though what do you think is the biggest bottle neck from validating an idea an actually now trying to get people to try or finding people with same problem.

Help for keeping up with planning to see one another!

Hi everyone so I know this may not be an issue for most !

But my gf 26F (UK) and I 26M (US) typically don’t leave each other without knowing when we will see each other again or minimum and idea!

So because I currently have a bit more financial leverage I typically and willing do most of the traveling, but we keep up with like booking a hotel or flights and maybe a car rental if we’re meeting up somewhere in like notes or just memory … but I made a little side project a year ago and!! That I was using for us and she encouraged me to put it here so I am!

I made this website that helps organize all your reservations across various different sites like Airbnb and booking all in one space and yes it’s manual rn I’m sorry but I would like to make it automated so you can send emails to it after you reserved something and keeps up with what’s been paid and what hasn’t and who paid and if it has a cancellation date so we can all protect our money bc money is important for all of us lol. Not to mention that dreaded currency conversion tax that you don’t see.

So it’s completely free if anything I just thought you all made find it useful and or give feedback on if it makes keep up with things easier and not to mention you can share with your partner as like a shared dashboard !!

Dm if you wanna check it out if not I’ll leave a link right here!!

sick of missing hotel cancellation deadlines and tracking "pay later" deposits in spreadsheets or notes, so I built a tool to fix it would love feedback

Hey everyone, honestly kind of terrified to post this here but here goes nothing..

My partner and I travel a lot and we always book across a bunch of different sites like booking.com, airbnb, etc.
The issue is that apps like Wanderlog or TripIt are terrible at tracking reservation states. They just treat expenses like flat numbers. They don't track what's a deposit, what's paid, or what's due later at check-in. We found ourselves constantly setting random phone reminders so we wouldn't miss a free cancellation deadline, and struggling to see how much actual cash we had left to spend after "unpaid" essentials were factored in across different currencies.

So I built a simple collaborative web app to solve our own headache. Right now it's completely manual, but it lets two people share a dashboard to:
Track paid vs unpaid states (deposits vs balance due later)😮‍💨

\- Countdown hard cancellation deadlines so you don't lose money

\-See a live "safe to spend" budget that handles real-time currency conversion for international trips

I was hesitant to post because building the app is honestly way easier than getting real users. But I'd love to know if anyone else actually struggles with this or if I'm the only one that does.

It's a pretty raw version right now but it works great for us and a few friends. If you have a trip coming up and want to try it out for free to poke holes in it, drop a comment! Would love the feedback back :)

Besides talking otp what do you do with your LDR partner that feels in engaging?

So I’m just gonna a skip all the extra info, my partner I we talk otp twice a day bc I work full time and I’m in school as well as working a business. Now my partner for medical reasons doesn’t not work atm so usually she adjust to my schedule like mornings for me and my lunch break (she’s 6 hours ahead of me UK time zone).

Lately I’ve wanted to try do things like play the game with her even offering to buy a console or even just app based games or something else but I keep getting hit with:

“I don’t have enough space for one”
“We will do it when we are together”
When we close the gap we can a shared game room etc”

Now my issues isn’t just gaming but it seems like anything I try to bring up other than just surface level convo is shot down subtly and I wish she’d just say if she wants to do something or not or even if she’s content.

I think I try my best to show up for her interest etc and it’s normal for two people not too have the same interest too but I feel zero interest from her in my interest unless we are traveling together or planning to see each other. Most responses to things I may bring up or very very surface level or simple “cool babe” or “nice babe” and that’s it …

Am I trippin ..?

ideas/feedback for logistics app for LDRs to help decision fatigue and actually enjoy traveling together until gap closure

So my partner 26F and I 26M have been in a LDR for two an a half years and during this time I work / she works and I also attend graduate school !

On my way home from work I thought that it can be incredibly draining trying to figure out how to make memories other than simply just visiting each other (this is very opinionated btw) but I was thinking if an app could find a place where both partners can go depending on budget, home currency, potentially even visa statuses and laws and where you both are in the world and recommend the best ways to meetup and experience traveling together with a hyper intelligent cost breakdown so it shows you what you can actually afford to do?

But equally it would also let you save trips and add memories like to a digital scrapbook in a shared space between the two of you and funny messages reflecting on the memories or trips and photos taken!

So I just wanted you guys honest opinion on if something like that could help the community or even be worth paying for 5.99 per couple you know ?

Advice on project scope

Sorry about how long this but I am a “Data Analyst” Contractor placed by Robert Half into a role that seems accounting heavy to me. So I want some honest feedback from people experienced in data analysis, accounting systems, and QuickBooks integrations.

I am a contractor and was hired through a staffing agency as an entry level data analyst with 1-2 years of experience at roughly $29/hr. Below is the project scope emailed to them after accepting the role:

Below recaps some of the major automation projects we want to look at getting done.  Obviously, will need to work pretty closely with you on most of them in the beginning to get you other system access, ground you on the data, etc.

1. Therap DDA Billing
1. We need to go back and extract all billed items from the 7/1/24 service date to current (likely tens of thousands of records) and determine how to use Transaction Pro software to import these into QuickBooks (QB).  We must ensure all pertinent data fields are included, particularly those that will help support matching them later against remittance/paid data.  Project may entail importing into QB a new set of Customers to aid in past/future data import, and ensure we associate correct “Class” code data to each record to aid in detailed home/location profitability tracking.  Before any mass import is done, several small samples will need to be run/tested.  Once mass import can be assured, we will need to reverse previously booked entries done in “total” for the month, as these new detailed records will replace those high-level monthly totals.  Also, we will want to develop this import process such that current staff can run it (likely daily) to import all future records as they are created.
2. Therap DDA Remittance
1. We need to also extract Therap recon data that should provide payment/remittance information, which we will similarly import into QB to apply against the mass volume of entries from 7/1/24 to current.  This is why project 1.a. above is important to be handled right, such that we import fields in that project that enable the records in QB to easily have remittance data matched to them.  Once completed, this should then give us a clear view into QB of current A/R Aging and all open balances for all Supported Persons (SPs).  Before we import all this data, we will also want to reconcile it with our bank activity to ensure the Therap data aligns to it.  Once this is all done and brought to current, we’ll similar want to ensure the process is built such that current staff can run it (likely daily) to import all remittance data into QB so we can use QB as an accurate source of open AR and associated Aging.
3. MHH Billing & Remittance – While different billing and reporting systems will be utilized to obtain the data, the project goal and outcome is essentially the same.
4. Paycom to QB – We currently only make 1 lump/high-level JE each month for booking all Paycom payroll data into QB data and have been doing it this way since moving to Paycom in mid-2022.  We want to start bringing in all weekly detailed/granular payroll data for all employees into QB, because we are working on a separate initiative to ensure all payroll costs for all employees are allocated to the correct “Class” code.  If we can import all granular Payroll cost data into QB, particularly at a Class level, then we will have the ability to run QB P&L reporting at a Class level (meaning “home” level for us, so we can start looking at profitability at each home/location we manage).  We are not necessarily looking at going “backward” and replacing old Payroll JEs with new granular data, but will want to look at some recent months in both formats to ensure they reconcile and obtain the same GL impacts.  Once that’s assured, then we can begin to pull this data into QB weekly following each paid payroll cycle.  We are open to exploring ways in which this may be able to be accomplished through some potential direct feed/import into native QB, but it may more likely need to involve an export of Paycom data and usage of Transaction Pro software to get it into QB.

My questions are:

  1. What level of experience would typically be required to execute this?
  2. What specialized roles would normally handle each piece of this?
  3. Is this realistic for one person or does this require a team?
  4. What would this scope normally cost to execute properly?

I’m just a bit concerned and confused abt my role here.

**TLDR: Entry level data analyst, 1-2 years experience, $29/hr, was hired for “automation help” through a staffing agency. This is the project scope they received after accepting the role. Is this normal? What level of expertise does this actually require?**

Need some advice about rentention!

I need some advice about retention. I am building a LDR utility tool that handles currency fairness who should pay what based on budget and eventually form of currency arbitrage. I equally have this orbit feature that allows for planning date ideas during the time two people are together and a memory orbit which allows them to store their memories in a creative way! It has partner sync and calculates how many miles they’ve flown for each other and allows them to save trip ideas and plan as well! But I’m struggling with the idea of retention and what would make anyone in this scenario come check the app 3-5 a week and how do I move into that space before launching my MVP for people in LDRs to try …

Hoping for some honest feed back this was a very vague explanation but poking holes through is encouraged plz and thanks

And the title is a typo I know

26M US to 26F UK - Do you all go away for Christmas?

So my partner 26F an I 26M are contemplating instead of spending time with family etc we want to go away for Christmas and new years and spend that time together but both of our families are saying that’s weird, not normal, etc.

And we were wondering is our thoughts process weird and is this uncommon or common amongst the general LDR community?

We still will likely go regardless of what they think but just wanting some thoughts on this

For context I (26M 🇺🇸) I’ve posted a bit in this thread so I feel as though I’m an okay communicator etc etc but lately my partner (26F 🇬🇧) an I seem to be more misaligned than I thought
Currently the situation is that she has been dealing with medical stuff and is not working and has not been for a while for reasons that I am 50/50 on BUT I respect that she does what she feels necessary for her health I’ve never pushed back on that. However she has made it clear the US is not an option for her.

At the moment I am on the finishing line of finishing school after a couple of gap years. But I’m currently trying hard at my current role to learn and gain experience as a data analyst to try and move to her side. I’m also trying to build an app at the moment for the community that I thought would be a nice product or side income once completed.

So I’ve strived hard bc entry anywhere else even the UK is really hard to just get sponsored especially early in your tenure so I try hard to maximize ways to close the gap. But I feel the same desire and effort isn’t there. I think she’s more interested of the actual closing moment an I understand sometimes it’s just easier than the reality. But I’ve never felt so alone as I do right now and I plan on bringing it up but I really do love her I just hope that it doesn’t come across as bad or anything like that. And equally I try to find ways for us to engage rather than just talking bc that’s become incredibly repetitive I think for her but she not that interested in doing anything other than that…. Am I being too much or ..?
