Surgical consult

My OB-GYN recommended that I have a consult with a doctor she trusts more for a hysterectomy due to my endometriosis. I am looking forward to a hysterectomy (is it odd to say that? I just want relief). I also have my mom, sister and my aunt that felt better after a hysterectomy as well. I am nervous about the consult and the possibility that he could say no. My OB-GYN said it’s unlikely, but I’m still anxious. I have exhausted everything I can, including birth control and two rounds of pelvic floor physical therapy, one year after my lap surgery. It was also found that I have mild pelvic congestion after surgery. I really don’t think that’s what causing my pain but it’s noted. Are there questions that would be helpful to ask the surgeon? I’m very nervous and I want to make it clear that I am ready for it.

Next diagnostic testing

For anyone who has been there and done that can you help me go in the right direction. I had pelvic MRI done last year ordered by an interventional radiologist. Insurance denied the pelvic embolization and I didn’t want it right away after it was weeks after my laparoscopic surgery, that found stage 1 and 2 endometriosis. It was moving way too fast, That vascular doctor left the practice shortly after too. If I pursue this at a new practice what kind of testing can I get done now that it’s a year later to see how my veins are now? Without having to get another MRI, is it a Duplex ultrasound (DUS) ?
I am also on the fence for a hysterectomy and no idea if obgyn or surgeon doing it wants me to get this checked out first.

Birth control

Does anyone do ok without birth control?
Long story short I’ve had severe pelvic pain/ period pains for years. I had laparoscopic surgery last year April 2025 and found out I had endometriosis. A few days later after surgery I was not ok and went to the Er. Ct scan showed Left gonadal/left pelvic varices are present. Recommend clinical correlation to evaluate for pelvic congestion syndrome….. so followed up on that had a MRI done and vascular doctor said mild to moderate pelvic congestion… insurance denied treatment the ovarian vein embolization, said it was investigational… and that was that. Nothing else… I was uncomfortable getting that done so soon after surgery too. My recovery was terrible. I was put on progestin birth control northerindrone. For the endo but also for the pelvic congestion. I’ve been on it for a full year and it hasn’t helped anything at all maybe made it worse. My biggest thing is mentally as well.
I decided to get off it this past April 2026 and immediately back to severe period pains and much more intense. I’ve had two cycles and questioning if I can do this without birth control. I was so focused on endometriosis aspect of it. So coming off the birth control has been terrible. I see my obgyn next week and it’s just so much anxiety on what to do. Painful periods and endometriosis and adenomyosis run in the family as well and both family members felt better after a hysterectomy. But this pelvic congestion is throwing a loop on it all. Any advice or anything is appreciated.

Red raspberry leaf tea

I keep reading conflicting information about this tea on Google with endometriosis. I’m not sure to avoid it or try it. I have ginger and turmeric and peppermint tea. I just wanted to see about this one if it helps anyone for severe cramps or made them worse.

Energy

What helps you have energy? I have to quit coffee I relied on it so much but I can’t anymore. I’m also not on birth control, so back to having a period and this cycle was miserable coming off the birth control. Walking gives me a little boost but I need more insights on how to help my energy!

Disc or cup

I’ve never tried is there any recommendations? I also deal with chronic pelvic pain from a combo of things like tight/weak pelvic floor and other stuff so I’m not sure how that will go but willing to try.

My 13 year old is flying through books and need more recommendations. She just finished Paper hearts by Ali Novak and My with the Walter boys books. One of us is lying books, A good girls guide to murder, all the sisterhood of traveling pants books. She just started the Inheritance games and she enjoyed the Hunger games series as well. Any authors or book recommendations appreciated!

Would you be comfortable talking to a male therapist about endometriosis, bladder the pain, the fatigue and everything that goes with it. Along with extreme anxiety and depression? That’s what I’m mostly going for is the crippling anxiety and I’ve never had a male therapist.
