Need help with my Kingdom, Nords are pain in the butt

I made my own kingdom, breaking away from Swadia starting from Veluca. The underscored towns are the ones I intend on having for myself (I had Yalen and Jelkala for a long time but gave them away, honestly don't know why hahah). Swadia, Rhodoks, Sarranids all eliminated thus lords are flocking to the Nords and Khergits while I have to beg 1 on 1 for them to join me. The "circled" parts are what my vassals have and this is a problem looking online because they are holding too many fiefs by the looks of it.

They have sizeable armies ranging around 100-150 but they are slow so they can barely defend although they are handy when I invade others. Now I'm at war with both the Nords and Khergits both fielding around 1400 troops with the marshal, I can't beat them even if I band together because they still have twice the numbers and the huscarls are still strong even if I have swadian knights.

The Nords have taken my Dhirrim probably marching south, the Khergits are sieging Shariz and I want to cry. I think I'm around 780 days into the campaign.

Do you guys have any tips or pointers how do I continue expanding and how to get out of this mess? I think only 1 vassal is martial maybe 2 and the rest are the nice lords.

How logical is the assimilation and conversion in GFM?

If the code and tooltip are correct (and assuming I can read) conversions will happen in .... never? The base factor is 10% but the catholics orthodox etc have -70% I think while muslims and jews have -80%. I'm not counting the animists in this. The most you can improve the odds are being a theocracy which is 10% and have moralism which is 5%. So in total catcholics would be -55% to convert, which is still never unless I'm missing something.

I know the point is that they are harder to convert at this stage of history, but if they are living in a discriminating fascist country one would expect of them to SLOWLY convert at least. So not en masse but a few percentages.

And if I understood correctly, assimilation won't work unless they are of your religion (apart from living on their core which is a main reason) and thus if that is the truth then assimilation never happens because you can't convert them thus you can't assimilate them WHILE THEY ARE ACTIVELY BEING DISCRIMINATED. Like okay if you are socialist or liberal, you let them be which is logical, I just thought if you are fascist or similar that you would see a bit of change.

I changed the code a bit to have at least some change in conversion under moralism (literally just under moralism) so it's like 5% for christians and 1% for muslims and jews when all is added together (not counting theocracy). Didn't see the results since I'm yet to play, but what are your thoughts about that?

I've also deleted the lines in the removing of foreign cores event for cultural union because at the same time that it's logical for them to have the cores, the same time I feel that after some time they would just accept they are the new country and not the old backwards one and embrace the new together identity.

If I'm missing something please do comment, this is just my understanding (probably misunderstanding)

Advice/tips for Serbia or similar countries in GFM

I know about the bring beaurecrats to 100% state and nation efficiency, the 4% intellectuals. I don't know about the tech or how to not get declared upon later when I take southern serbia with the help of russia. I usually go ideological thought into basic chemistry into medicine (or idealism forgot the year when the research finishes) then I actually get military staff system for the 3% to get hussars (not sure how much this is necessary but I hate later to wait for the 3% chance). And after that I don't know, I get like mechanical parts so I can get more money because the poor have more and then practical engine for the same reason. AND then I go to grab the education efficiency techs.

In the meantime I like to build the booze factory and put the focus to craftsmen or maybe soldiers to bring them to around 4%.

The problem is that I sometimes get attacked my ottomans because they get like prussia or spain and they somehow are stronger than russia together and I just can't do anything since I disregard the military tech.

Maybe a slight issue is that I take avantgarde tech school and it has -10% to army tech but the 15% to culture which has literally all the techs I need is something I would say.

I'm also usually a bit late to the party in Africa, last time I grabbed like a piece of gabon I think since it was independent. That game was fine but I still felt like I could've done better, I had a solidly big Yugoslavia but I was kinda lazy and didn't want to fight Russia for bulgaria because one war against russia, okay I've won it but god damn how much I killed those guys. Literally 500 regiments.

I also want the prestige techs because yes at the same time it feels negligible the other times I feel like those techs were needed so I break into the great power rank because industry and army/navy wasn't enough to bring the score up so much.

I also feel like the foci should be strictly set for craftsmen after I get the beaurecrats and intellectuals in the states. Since by themselves even if they have literacy, the promotions are too slow. Can I maybe influence the promotions even more somehow?

Multiple questions about the new navy and the mechanics, looking for some answers/opinions because I couldn't find answers to some of these!

I'm liking the new system honestly, but since we all have to get adjusted to it I haven't seen that much questions regarding some of these (at least I didn't find them that much since it's still relatively new) and would like some opinions. Oh yeah kinda mildly annoying that when creating a new template it's NOT the new default when you select the ship you want to build and have to change it manually 90% of the time.

  1. If I'm starting as a backwater nation or landlocked minor power (eventually getting a coast in like 20-30 years), should I just wait out and get the ironclad tech for the newer ship types (because I can't afford that much to put into the navy) or should I build the wooden ones for some reason (NOT for transporting, which would probably be a fine enough reason to just build them up)

  2. How strong is it to build multiple navies just for the reason to project power onto regions where you want to trade with? Which interest level should I be looking to get if doing so?

  3. I don't quite understand assigning a navy to station in multiple nodes, I see it reduces efficiency (maybe it's fine for convoy raiding or interception I guess?). Say I have 1 navy and I want to project power, I think it's usually better to just place it in one node where 2 or 3 strategic region meet and then it will divide them up instead of splitting the nodes for 1 region (for which it's just better to place it in 1 node because it will fully project if it's the only region the node connect to, right?)

  4. Which ships are good, as in the types (although too many to name) throughout the game? For example monitors and early ironclad (both capital ships), why would I ever use a monitor because for what I'm seeing in the game literally all the stats are worse than the early ironclad while they come in the same tech? THE only reason to use a monitor is because its 2 times more cheaper, but what am I supposed to do with it when it goes into open waters (1 sea node away from port) and has -80% attack.

Not a question, but piracy as an unrecognized is sooo fun when you have a large navy and just raid the hell out of the shipping lanes and get free money for construction. It wasn't even the bug where it creates the goods from nothing since I've reloaded and made my algeria run actually fun and not tormenting.

Answer whichever question you want no need for all if you don't want to or can't :)
