36m single
95k salary - work for a municipality
401k trad 55k
401k Roth 30k
Roth IRA 115k
457b trad 30k
457b Roth 70k
Brokerage 300
EF 10

Total - 610k

Saving $590 every two weeks in 457b

Used to save much more but I’ve paired back some

Pension will be worth approximately 3500m at 60 yrs old if I work with the same state until then. 6.5% my contribution + 7.5% employer match.

Home worth 340k
Owe 200k
Equity 140k
2.8% mortgage

Monthly bills are around 3500 month. 1500 of that is the mortgage.

Looking to retire at 60. My place will be paid off at 61. If I remain single I’d guess I’ll stay here but if I don’t I’m not sure.

Thanks

How do you guys juggle bike commuting and weight training?

I have around a 9 mile one way trip to work and I like to weight train 4 days a week. I find that I have to weight train before work if I commute but I get home and I’m exhausted it’s hard to keep it going for a whole week.

I’ve realized something…

I “coastfired” at 33 yrs old. I’m a heavy equipment operator for a municipally now. Very relaxing pace, good benefits, easy hours, etc. I used to work in an office and dreaded everyday. That’s mainly the reason I saved so much. I saved for my escape. But now, it’s weird because I don’t feel that need to escape. I like my job and look forward to each Monday (relatively speaking). I have a 750k net worth but don’t have any plans on stopping saving, investing or working. Kind of weird position now looking back. Just thought I’d share.

Should I reduce my savings rate? I always feel like I should upgrade my life but then I get worried life will happen and I need more money

Hello, I’m 36 and currently make around 85k as a heavy equipment operator for a municipality. I really like my job and plan to stay here for awhile. I’d like to retire around 55-60. I’ve been an aggressive saver for most of my adult life. I’ll list some relative details below. My question is can I pair back my savings rate? I’d still be at 25%, but a large portion would be a pension.

Age 36
Salary 85k
Investment balance 620k
EF 15k
Home value 330k , owe 205k, payment 1400m

I spend around 2800 to 3500 a month with house payment

Currently max my 403b at 24500 yr

Mandatory pension is 6.5% of my salary and 7.5% matched by employer

Current saving rate 43%

I also have another union pension at 6% mandatory but I’m not fully vested for another 4 years so I don’t really consider this (49% with this)

I’d like to drop my 403b to 9k a year - this would make my retirement contributions with main pension equal 25%

What do you think? What can I do differently or any advice?

What’s the best way to make these stairs more comfortable for my senior dog?

This is unfortunately the only way to the back yard. Maybe a ramp? But how to build? Stair case is 42” wide.

Help me decide if I should stop saving so aggressively

Hello, so for a little background, I used to work in sales and burnt out around my 33rd birthday and had to make a change. Around that time I had approx 450k saved up plus a house with a relatively low mortgage (1440 month). Fast forward to now, I’m a heavy equipment operator for a municipality. I kind of thought of this as my coast fire job at the time. I like it and its very relaxing most days. Problem is that I can’t stop saving so I’m not even coasting really. I currently make 95k a year and max my 403b. I also am contributing to two pensions which I just started when I got this job. 14% (half mine and employers) in the city pension and 6% into the union pension. Doing some quick math, the city pension should amount to around 3 to 4k month and the union should be around 1 to 2k by 60.

Im currently 36 and have 620k in investments and I’m wondering do I just stop investing in the 403b and let the investments ride while the mandatory pensions build? I spend approximately 3 to 4k a month now including the house payment.

Thanks

When do you think I might become an everyday millionaire?

Hello - I don’t know much about finances I have just been frugal my whole life. I read a book early on about investing into index funds, mainly s&p and nasdaq so that’s what I did. I’m just a blue collar guy (heavy equipment operator) and make an okay salary at 95k. Wondering if you guys know when I could possibly become a millionaire. That seems crazy to me as my lifestyle and no one around me has any clue. I’m 36.

Roth IRA - 123k
Traditional IRA - 96k
HSA - 6k
EF - 10k
457b - 54k
Taxable- 336k

Total invested- 625k

Home worth - 330k
Owe 205k

I save roughly 2k a month into 457b and have a pension accruing that is 12% my salary and is matched at 7.5% (19.5% total). When I was younger I didn’t have the 457b so that’s why the taxable is so high.

Paid off car but I mainly bike to work everyday

Thanks

How can I make sure I don’t derail my finances

Okay so I have been very frugal for about 10 years. I make around 95k and live in the Midwest. I’m 36M single. My income is not great, but I’ve been saving so diligently that I’ve somehow been able to accumulate about 775k in net worth. 130k of that I’m home equity. The rest in mix of retirement and about 320k in a taxable account. I save around 50% of my current salary. That includes two pensions that I’ve only recently started with a new employer (not added in net worth). I currently drive a 2018 Mitsubishi mirage that I bought at an auction for 4k had hail damage. Currently has 55k miles and works great. But if you know this car it’s about as unappealing as a car can get but it’s cheap. I’ve been tossing the idea of a truck around and wondering if I can get some takes on it. It would cost me about 40k. I’d have to sell some stock to buy it. Worth it or no. I don’t really need a truck but it’s cool.

What’s the best way to make this more private?

Ideally I’d like to avoid building anything on the deck. I’d like to make this more private. I always see my neighbors looking through their window when I’m on my deck and it’s annoying. I planted three American pillars as you can two years ago. Was thinking of doing a 6ft wood fence too just cause they are just as annoying when I’m out in my yard. Any ideas on what I ca do. Open to all!
