Is there interest in a US-India relations at AU?

Hey all, incoming freshman here, interested in foreign policy and thinking about starting a student club focused on US-India relations / South Asia policy more broadly (trade, security, diaspora issues, etc.).

Before I put time into this, I wanted a reality check from people actually on campus:

Is the South Asian community at AU interested in something like this, and are students from other communities interested too? Basically trying to gauge if there’s real interest at AU, or if this is something people just wouldn’t care about.

Genuinely just trying to gauge interest before committing. Appreciate any honest takes and advice, including “don’t bother.”

Freshman Schedule Review

Hi everyone. I’m an incoming freshman this fall and I’d love some advice on my schedule, if there’s anything I should change etc.
I also wanted to get to know if there’s a possibility I’ll be able to get an internship or I should take up work somewhere (and if you know where please do tell me) that I can do as a freshman. Thank you

Incoming freshman with a couple random questions

1) Is it normal to feel really tired and sleep in until like 10 or 11 on days you don’t have class? Just wondering if this is a normal college/pre-college thing or if I should be worried about it.

2) I’ve been trying to get to know my future roommate for the past couple days. Asking questions, trying to build a conversation, the usual. But he’s been really short with me. Replies are literal and to the point, no follow-up questions on his end. At one point I said something like “oh nice, that’s really cool” and he just left me on read after that. I’ve run out of things to ask since I’ve been the one carrying the conversation for two days straight.

For context, I’m Indian American and he’s African American, if that’s relevant at all.

I have another friend heading to the same school and his roommate conversations are going great, lots of back and forth. So I’m wondering if this is just how some people are before college (not big texters, waiting to meet in person) or if I’m doing something wrong.

3) I’m also a little scared about living on my own for the first time. Is that a normal thing to feel before starting college? And if so, what actually helped you get more confident about it?

Any advice on any of this is appreciated.

Wrapping up ISC and heading off

Hey everyone! Just wanted to drop in one last time. ISC 12th boards are officially done and dusted for me, and it turned out to be a really great result. Couldn't have asked for a better way to close out school.

I'll be heading to Georgetown University in the US this fall for college, so this feels like the perfect time to say goodbye to this group. It's been a great space through a stressful year, and I genuinely wish everyone here the best of luck, whether you're still waiting on results, prepping for boards, or just starting to think about what's next. You've got this.

Thanks for everything, and all the best! 🎓

Quick survey: US-India relations/policy interest at AU

Hey everyone! I'm doing some informal research on student interest in US-India relations, policy, and cross-cultural programming here at AU. If you have 2 minutes, would really appreciate you filling this out, helps me understand what people are actually interested in on campus.

If you know anyone else at AU who might want to fill it out too, feel free to send it their way. Thanks in advance!

Incoming freshman with two questions about the Neo

Hey everyone! Incoming freshman here (studying IR and government) and I am considering buying a MacBook Neo. I’m not too worried about it handling my day-to-day workload since lectures, papers, and readings should be a breeze.

But I have two questions I’d love to get your thoughts on:

  1. Data-heavy work: Since I’m an honors student, if I end up taking an internship or a research position that involves data collection, analysis, or similar tasks, will the Neo hold up? Would love to hear from anyone who’s used it for that kind of work.

  2. Longevity: I’m hoping to run this thing through all four years of undergrad. Is that realistic? Any experiences with how well it holds up over time?

Thanks in advance, really appreciate any input from people who’ve been using it for a while!

Laptop Q

Guys do you recommend a macbook air or macbook neo for an incoming CLEG and IR major. I'm wanting to keep the laptop without changing for a minimum of 4 years. Which one do you reccomend and why?

Thanks, in advance, for the help!
