Whats a good budget for a first apartment?

I’m moving into an off campus apartment for the first time in the fall, and did school online this year so I never went through dorm shopping. My place is furnished with a bed, dresser, and desk. What’s a good starting place for a budget? What are some things you couldn’t live without in college or bought and never used? I’ll also need some kitchen/bathroom supplies, any tips are appreciated!

Late graduation possibilities

My father in law was a few credits away from graduating in late 1960s. According to my MIL he only needed to finish his practicum. He dropped out and joined the army and immediately got deployed to Korea and Vietnam (that was the time). After military he just went into the workforce and managed some small stores in California. So he never graduated.

This year he's turning 80. He often talks about his incomplete degree.

I've seen some colleges mention "converting" life/work experience into credits. Is there a way to get the remaining few credits and have him graduate? How would one go about that? Do you have any recommendations? Any tips are welcome!

I missed my Final Exam day

My class has 4 exams and the professor said the lowest score gets dropped automatically. I didn't show up for my final exam day saying the week before that that I thought I would, and so he thought I would, so it's a 0, dropping my grade from a A to a C. The thing is.... I loved that class. But dropping it should've not lowered my grade like he said.

Professor still hasn’t put in final course grade

Hello everyone - basically what the title says, I have an internal transfer application that is dependent on my gpa, but my professor has STILL yet to put in final course grades cause nothing is graded. I don’t know what to do and I don’t know if this can impact my transfer.

Should I Be Choosing My College Based on Online Flexibility? (Commuter)

I’m planning to commute instead of live on campus since I live really close to 5 of my top schools. I’m pre-PA/pre-health, so I know GPA matters a ton. Part of me wants to take as many classes online as possible, but another part of me is worried I’d be making a mistake if I took too much online, especially for important science classes like chemistry (which I don’t think i'd be allowed to take online tbh). I've also been homeschooled for the last 4 years so doing a lot of classes online for college is kind of depressing to think about lol.

Like, I can’t tell if taking online classes is just being practical… or if I’m sabotaging my education/social life before I even start.

If I do end up taking multiple online classes, which ones should they even be? Easier gen eds online and harder classes in person? Or should I mix them so I can still be on campus without needing to be there 5 days a week?

Does that sound reasonable for commuting pre-health students? Or did anyone regret taking too many online classes?

Degree in three: Why more colleges are speeding up graduation timelines

19 May 2026 *(transcript and video at link) - Only about a third of Americans now believe a four-year college degree is worth the cost. Increasingly, students and families are questioning it too. As many colleges across the country face shrinking enrollment, more than 60 institutions are now offering students a faster path to graduation.

I genuinely didn’t expect college to feel this socially isolating

I genuinely didn’t expect making friends in college to be this hard

Everyone talks about college like you’re constantly surrounded by people but honestly it’s weirdly easy to just end up doing everything alone without even realizing it

A few weeks ago me and a few friends started messing around with this random blind voice call thing for college students where you just get connected with someone and talk for a bit without really knowing anything about them beforehand

At first it was literally just supposed to be a funny late night experiment but somehow people kept inviting more people into it and now random people on campus actually know what it is which feels insane

How to tell someone I don’t wanna room with them?

I saw another Reddit post similar to this one but I just need some advice other than what was answered on another one. I talked with these girls that were looking for a 4th roommate but I really did not like one of the girls and their rules were just a little too strict for my liking when it comes to boyfriends. I just need to find a way to tell them in a nice way that I don’t think we’re a good match but I don’t wanna confront the issue. I have no idea what to do😭

How many days per week of uni/college do you guys have?

I js finished high school and I am tryna understand how uni works. I got into an american uni in the middle east and apparently it follows an american sort of curriculum method, whatever that means.

Everyone who is currently at uni, how many days do u guys have uni for, per week? Do we get to choose what classes we go to a day and can I like change my schedule. The uni i got into gave me a schedule of 17 credit hours for the first sem. Ive got 5 classes a day (mon to fri) but it's weird how I have ONE class on friday and then I've got to wait till 5pm to go home by bus (the uni is an hour away from my home and the uni provides free transport)

Is it normal to go to uni 5 days a week, i thought its lower than that 😿

100 vs 200 vs 300 vs 400 level classes

What’s the difference between 100 vs 200 vs 300 vs 400 level classes. I know like what they’re for but it’s there any difference in terms of difficulty?

Also wanted to add that I’m majoring in Sociology and political science. I’m excited

How likely is it to make friends sophomore year

I’m a very social person and am in a sorority at a big state school and go to a lot of social events. I do have lots of friends and I can tell people enjoy having me around but everyone I’m close with I went to highschool with. Don’t get me wrong I choose to be friends with them because of who they are not because I already knew them in fact we were not even close in highschool. I just feel insecure that I am not close friends with anyone new and worry that now that we’re through freshman year everyone’s already decided their social circle.

How to retain info longer ?

Hey all,

I am in my mid twenties and went back to school this year. The thing is I am having a hard time able to read and retain information.

I would admit some of the courses I am in are not super interesting but they are still new to me so I am definitely keen to learn.

I also work full time and with other responsibilities it is becoming incredibly hard for me to study and retain information when it is time for a test. I even sometimes cannot recall many topics.

Some of the strategies I have tried is note taking, revising and pomodoro techniques to learn. But they don’t seem to improve much. Plus it takes me longer and longer to study and learn properly which is causing me to be behind course deadlines.

Has anyone got any other tips or thoughts on this ?

Thanks!

Is it too much to ask for a 0.08 point grade roundup?

I calculated my grade and I would receive a 84.92% (B). The grade cutoff to get a B+ is 85%. To get rounded up, I would need to get added 0.5 points to any graded item

I’m not too sure but the syllabus states “My grade cutoffs will not be more stringent than what you see. Other grade designations will be used sparingly in accordance with University policies”

I'm a home cook, and I had a growing pile of recipe links scattered across bookmarks, screenshots, and YouTube tabs. It was super unorganized, and I got kinda fed up.

So I made yourrecipevault.com (https://yourrecipevault.com/). You paste a link from a blog post or YouTube video, and it pulls out a clean recipe with ingredients and step-by-step instructions, saved to your vault. There's also a grocery list feature where you select the recipes you want to cook, and it generates a combined shopping list you can copy and paste.

I just published it, so I'd love to know what works, what's broken, and what's missing.

Trade school for college credits

All i have right now is a HS diploma, the career i want to get into eventually at a certain point requires a bachelors degree, but my secondary hobbies/back up job also requires a trade school.

I wont be able to attend the trade school full time for 10 months so its going to take me approx 2 years to do the part time option. Since that is a significant portion of time and money, Im wondering if there is some way i can integrate my trade school as college credits to help out with eventually obtaining a bachelors.

I have zero knowledge of college and Don’t know where to look to find out this information. Thank you!

MLA format and general grammar/writing resources

I’m currently taking an English course at a nearby community college. I’m doing it while I’m in the military so I’m balancing it with a job and I really need to get straight A’s on this course because when I leave the military, I really and get into my dream school however the problem is I’ve been out of school for three years and besides military training, I haven’t been in I feel like it would be a little bit easier going in person, but doing online is the only thing I can do because of my job. I just feel so lost with all this does anyone have any really good resources to just improve writing?

Need help deciding on a college roommate!

This post is exactly what is stated in the title lol. For anyone who was roomed in a dorm with a roommate in college, how did you decide on one person? I'm currently talking to a few people, and it's super hard to decide between one person over another, and I'm not trying to regret my choice.

I've asked people questions, had them answer, and then I answer any of their questions back. So, my primary source of decision-making has come from asking questions and seeing where there might be any conflicts/compromises/similar perspectives. Still, this doesn't seem like enough for a decision that affects some of my comfortability and enjoyment in college :/ Do you have any suggestions or advice?

Professor moving final exam date earlier

hi I need someones advice. so I took my final exam 12 hours earlier than expected because my prof messed up the deadline for it and I feel that because of that I wasn’t prepared enough/just way too stressed because of the last minute change.

I ended up getting a 66/100 on it and feel it isn’t fair, is this a good reason to ask for a retake??

id also like to add that he did give us a lot of time to study in advance (study week + 48 hours) but I do still think that moving an exam date earlier without any notice is not fair.

i honestly dont know can anyone give me advice please
