Need money FAST

Hello, first time on this sub, and I am very hopeful you guys can help :)

I have my final semester of college starting in August, and I need money to pay for it! I didn't have the opportunity to work for the fireworks stands I normally get, so I have about 1600 of 4500.

I need a way to make this money online because I am working 30 hours at my part-time job (I will keep it through the semester). I am so close to graduating with NO DEBT, which is a huge step up, especially at a time when higher ed is SO expensive.

I know it's crazy to ask for 4K in like 6 weeks, but I am trying so hard to graduate without loans so I can get to grad school without debt and start off a tad easier.

Any ideas, tips, etc would be so appreciated! TIA

Do you get asked out on dates in person?

This question is more for women in college but if you’re male and you have some perspective feel free to add.

Sometimes when I’m browsing on Reddit or even different social medias, I’ll come across stories of women talking about getting frequently asked out on dates. Typically by coworkers, mutual friends, guys they met on night outs, etc.

It then occurred to me that I never really get asked out on dates in person. Last year (my first year in college) I got asked out on a date by a guy who messaged me on insta, a guy who was my marriage pact (if you’re unfamiliar with what that is it’s basically a questionnaire that matches you with somebody at your college), and of course guys on dating apps.

But I don’t really relate to this aspect of adulthood I see in movies or hear about in social media where women casually get asked out for dinner or coffee. I was just wondering if it’s normal that I haven’t experienced stuff like that yet since we’re all still pretty young and many guys don’t approach out of nervousness. Or if I’m chopped. Drop your thoughts down below!

Turn graduated highscool and I want to changed

Could anyone help me? I graduated high school and I never really took high school seriously. Unfortunately, events happen during my senior year and then I ended up not doing common app or applying to any college and now I want to change. Could someone help me or direct me to the right direction. I mainly need help with like finding scholarships to pay for and what to do. Thank you.

Can professors see if you just clicked on a file in Canvas?

I was looking through my summer class on Canvas and went into the Files section just to see what was posted. I clicked on a document, and as soon as it opened I realized it was an answer key for one of our future assignments. I immediately closed it as soon as I realized what it was.

I didn't download it, print it, or intentionally read through it. I literally just opened it and closed it.

Can professors see that I opened the file? Will they know I clicked on it, or does Canvas only track downloads/views in certain situations? I'm probably overthinking this, but I really don't want to get in trouble for accidentally opening it.

If I got AP credit but don’t remember the course super duper well, should I use the credit?

I get credit for calc AB and bio, and presumably stats (scores aren’t out yet), but the thing is that I took calc in junior year and bio in sophomore year. I’m scared that because I don’t remember the courses all that well, I’m going to end up really struggling if I skip the introductory courses. I’m more worried about calc than anything because while calc and bio came pretty easily to me, I’m scared about jumping straight to calc II especially because it’s a major requirement (for ref, I’m majoring in molecular genetics). That being said, I also feel like I’d be fine by reviewing, but I don’t wanna shoot myself in the foot if I actually don’t do fine. Should I just review the basics before school starts, or should I just take the introductory courses?

How do you find time for work study?

So I am taking 17 hours this semester in heavy STEM coursework. I am a math major. All the work study jobs are M-F 8-5...but that's when my classes are going on! How am I supposed to find time? My college has very little classes to where all of them take place during 8-5. I have like maybe three hours in between classes on Mon and Wed only...but I need a lunch hour too? lol. Plus let's say I eat quickly and was able to work both of those days that's only 6 hours a week. These work study jobs say 15-19 hours a week. If it says that the minimum is 15 hours right?

ETA: I need to take at least 15 hours for my tuition to be paid for. But of course two of my classes are four hours so that's how I ended up with 17 hours in my semester.

Working while in college

I’m currently trying to find a job while in school. Unfortunately my classes fall in between shift changes and kind of mid day. This next semester I’m unavailable Tuesday/thursday 10am-2pm and mondays 3-5 I’ve applied to a handful of jobs and have done multiple interviews and no one is willing to work with my schedule. I also don’t think my school schedule is the most difficult. I mentioned this in another community and everyone is telling me to do overnight shifts but I know myself and I know that’s not going to work out for me. I find it so discouraging and I’m questioning whether I should just find a decent job and come back to college at a later time. I’ve interviewed for Texas Roadhouse, wingers and Olive Garden and they weren’t willing to work with my schedule. I even applied to a local coffee shop that’s open till 12 am and they also don’t want to work with my schedule (they wanted part time night shifts 😐) im also willing to work my school schedule around a job during the spring semester and moving forward just not the fall semester coming up as I applied to these courses months ago and they fill up quick. I’m just at a lost. Any advice is appreciated!

Side note: I’ve posted this in many communities and got no comments besides on one. So I thought this community might help 🤷‍♀️

Teacher impersonating student?

Is it possible that a my professor is impersonating a student in my async class. There’s just some weird coincidences that maybe best not to put on this haha but is this possible? When I throw the question into google, it says it’s possible and there’s one post from Reddit but a teacher referencing fake students in her class.

are there any universities offering big scholarships, free rides, etc?

i live in the middle east and never been anywhere in the world so i yearn to experience a place different than where i lived my entire life. i do wish i could attend a university in america but unfortunately my passport is not allowed there. so i’m thinking of attending university somewhere in europe but i doubt they do full rides or big scholarships.

with my current situation, i can’t fully afford university but i really do want to attend. i want to major in music or music performance but i don’t know where to look or what seems to be the best option.

is there a company that helps look for universities abroad and the best choice for me?

if you have any recommendations on where i should look, please do let me know!

Do a lot of students in STEM fields get harshly graded due to physical appearance?

This is somewhat related to the “blackpill” in how your looks affect the way you are treated by others, not just in dating. I graduated as a math major in 2017 and have only had contract roles (I had to lie to get some of those roles). I finished with a 2.4 GPA.

In junior or senior level math courses that many engineering and math students take past Calculus 1-3, such as Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, PDE, Intro to Advanced Math, etc. you’d have problems on exams that take up half a page. I would find myself get deducted 5 pts out of 10 for missing a step or not showing enough work in the process. Meanwhile, other students who made more egregious errors got 8/10 or 9/10 for the same problem. It was ridiculous, despite studying 6 hours a day for 2 weeks and sometimes resorting to all nighters, I got harshly penalized for minor mistakes or omissions while other students almost breezed through.

The only math courses where I got As were two statistics courses in the summer, both online. There, my face isn’t visible and I got treated like everyone else. I don’t think it was due to a lighter course load, since 6 credit hours in 2 months of summer is equal to 12-15 hours in a full semester.

It seems like getting jaw surgery gives you a bump of one letter grade, both academically and in dating. The younger GenZ people are blessed with having more Looksmaxxing content shown to them that wasn’t available to me back 7-10 years ago.

Zyns and college students

I am I 21 year old college student and zyn user. I am considering building a website that shows all the zyn/nicotine pouch prices in your local area. They can range from $6 to $11 here in California so there is a decent price variance. Is this something that you as a college student would realistically use? Any/all feedback is welcome.

how many roommates is ideal?

right now i’m stuck between having 4, 1, and 3 for my freshman year. i’m going to have to live off campus so all of these options are just like suites. i just don’t know because my mom said that she enjoyed having multiple because it was kind of like a safety net of if you don’t get along with one you might get along with another. but i don’t want to just go in and expect to be friends with everybody because i feel like that’s unrealistic. i’m also scared of getting paired with the opposite gender because there’s really no way to tell.

Being in college without a car is practically a death sentence

I'm 19, don't have a car, don't dorm, so I gotta commute to my school. The problem is I live 30 mins away from my school by car, and with the bus I gotta take several buses and with all the stops they take, it's around 2+ hours to go to and from my school. I just got done with my first year at college and I'm so sick of it already. Mind you I only had classes Mon, Wed, Fri, my first school year, and if I want to graduate on-time/as early as possible, I gotta take way more classes on days that are not just Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My mom uses the car we have to go to work, and for the most part refuses to drive me to the school since "it makes her tired". I think I'm basically screwed. Literally everyone else I know in my college that's my age has their own car and or has supportive parents that helps drive them to the school. I'm honestly thinking of just dropping out because all of this stress and personal issues is getting to me. I honestly don't know what to do
