Why do so many people start dating in high school?

I was wondering why so many people start thinking about dating at a young age, especially in high school or during their first years of college.

From my perspective, I think people should wait until they’re at least 24 before seriously thinking about dating. By that age, you’re usually more mature, have a clearer idea of what you want in life, and have started making plans for your future. That’s when I think dating makes the most sense—because you’re looking for a long-term partner or a future wife, not just a relationship for the sake of it.

I’m curious to hear other perspectives. Why do you think so many people start dating so young, and what do you think is the ideal age to begin?

If you were 19 again, what career would you choose today?

I’m 19, and I feel like I’m standing at one of the biggest crossroads of my life.

University is free in my country, but the education system is outdated. I keep asking myself if I should stay in university or drop out and build my own path instead.

These are the options constantly running through my mind:
AI / Software Engineering – I genuinely enjoy tech, but it’s a crowded field, and it could take years before I become good enough to stand out.
Electronics (University) – I like hardware and the idea of building technology, but it’s also a long-term investment.
Starting a business – In my country, many ideas that are common in Europe or the US don’t exist yet. It feels like there are opportunities, but I don’t have the money to start.
Learning a practical trade – Things like iPhone repair, painting, or another local skill that could start making money relatively quickly.
Freelancing – Video editing, animation, programming… there are so many skills that I end up overthinking instead of choosing one.

The hardest part isn’t that I don’t want to work—it’s that every path seems like it could take years, and want to stay from 19 to 25 just learning i need something that i can do fast now and can go bigger with time.

So I’m asking people who have more life experience:
If you were 19 again in today’s world, what path would you choose?
What skill or career has given you the best return on the time you invested?
Is university still worth it, or would you focus on self-learning instead?
What’s one mistake you wish someone had stopped you from making at my age?
I’m not looking for motivation—I want honest advice from people who’ve actually been through it.
