Record stores in Milwaukee or Chicago

I am going to Chicago and Milwaukee to visit clients and was curious if there were any great record stores I should visit near where I’ll be. In Chicago unfortunately I will be downtown, in Milwaukee I’ll be near Germantown but will have a car. I won’t have a ton of time to explore but would love to check out any local shops with a good jazz selection. Does anyone have any recs? Thanks a lot.

Bettye Swann - Don’t you ever get tired

After loving this album for 25 years I finally bought a nice copy. I probably put the title track on a dozen mixtapes in my teens and early 20s

Recommend some Jackie McLean and Cecil Taylor

My taste in jazz has expanded a ton in the past several years but I have just never been able to get into Jackie McLean or Cecil Taylor. They each have such large bodies of work but any time I pick a track I find it unpleasantly frenetic and/or atonal. fwiw, I do like Sun Ra, Pharaoh, even some Sam Rivers.

Figured I’d ask for some recommendations here. What are some songs I should listen to? Are there any obvious classics where if I don’t like them I probably just don’t like the musician?

Thanks a lot.

Alice Clark - I keep it hid

I still remember the first time I heard this song in a record store. By the third chorus I am pretty sure I said “godDAM” out loud. What a voice. Glad I don’t like the rest of the album as much or I might feel compelled to spend $700 on the vinyl

One of the best jazz albums of the 80s - Dance by Kamal Abdul Alim

Finally snagged an original vinyl. I love this album

Picked up some real unusual ones

-Johnny Dyani w/ John Tchicai and Dudu Pukwana - Witchdoctor’s Son

-Frank Cunimondo Trio - Top Shelf Collection

The Dyani I haven’t found in the wild before and was thrilled to find at a good price. The Frank Cunimondo has a CORK cover and seems to be an in-house production by a Pittsburgh area club Frank’s group played at. Probably sold on site. I have never seen it before. No Lynn Marino or other vocals

I love finding rare albums with beat up jackets

$65 for both (the Joe is a period repress from ‘68). I like having the album art but don’t mind wear if the vinyl is in good shape. Love finding the stores that carry records in this condition and price accordingly.

Great piano album, previously unknown to me. Love the song Spanish Girl. Very early 70s sound. I don’t really care about autographs but still cool that the copy is signed by Hawes and Vinnegar.

Actually went in looking for the McCoy and saw it at a stand setting up on my way out. 1977 press but still happy

Lester Bowie’s Brass Fantasy - I only have eyes for you (1985)

Bought this album even though it’s 80s and I don’t like Art Ensemble of Chicago because it was cheap, on ECM, and had Malachi Thompson and Craig Harris. It’s gorgeous. Discovering music this way is so rewarding.
