Stolen Bike, Secondary Scam?
Hi guys. I got my bike stolen yesterday in Lincoln Park. I posted a pic of it on bikefinder and got this email this morning. I'm really wary of being scammed since this seems too good to be true, but at the same time what could possibly happen? The bike is already gone, I don't know how someone could scam me when I have no bike to be scammed out of. I figured if they were scammers, the more information I gave would be the more information they knew how to circumnavigate. I don't know, I'm paranoid. I hate how uneasy I am around strangers trying to help but at the same time this is a scary world with mean people in it. Has anyone had any experience with a "Scott Jones" or a "Jackrecovery" before?
UPDATE: They want me to pay $100 and in return I'll get "Verified updates on the tracking progress, Accurate location details and video footage sent securely to your email, Expert analysis and step-by-step guidance throughout the recovery process." 😆 yeah it's a scam alright. as if a stolen bike wasn't enough, now people gotta come in and try to rub salt in the wound.
