Beginner Advice

Planning to do my first ultra, likely 50km/50m.
I was curious how far out people train typically? I’m aware it’s vastly different, but just wondering if there’s a general consensus. I have ran many half marathons, so not too worried about doing the actual training for something. Well aware this is a different beast.

Bonus for good/cool races for a first timer? Located in Michigan if that helps.

Very excited to give myself a challenge.

Running/exercising with your Bernese?

Good morning!

Does anyone consistently run (or bike?) with their bernie? If so, what leash setup?
Ours loves to be outside and do all the adventures. Ideally I’d love to take him on my morning runs with me to help with being at home during work hours.

I have taken him on a couple runs, and he just doesn’t seem to interested 🤣 he enjoys about a mile of running then visibly looks exhausted/uninterested so we stop.

Apple Watch vs Garmin??

I been debating on getting a Garmin, but am kind of getting lost in this world🤣 I always have been using different Apple Watches (4/6/9), but am more interested in the athletic side of Garmin. I have a busy lifestyle and have scratched/cracked/broke many different AW screens and am sick of it.

I work in education, so Id like a watch that can read/possibly respond to text in case of emergency (don’t normally have phone in pockets). Which is why I’ve always stuck with AW.

I’m pretty big into all sports. Running, lifting, swimming, basketball, snowboarding, anything that keeps my body moving. Not sure if I’m just not using the AW to its full potential but I feel the health/activity realm is lacking. TYIA
